I don't think we need Perez and a #1 starter. I think Perez, if signed, should be the #1 starter. So, right off I disagree with his first two steps when presented as 2 separate steps. The one exception for me would be Kershaw on a very short term deal.

There are parts of step 3 that I am very much against.

I completely disagree with his step 4.

In theory, I agree with his 5th step because I like the idea of pursuing a closer. It would be higher up the list for me and I wouldn't go the cheaper route he proposes.

I would be happy with Perez ($14) on 3 years, Nick Martinez ($8)on 2 & Kershaw($20) on 2.
That would allow our top pitching prospects to come up in due time while solidifying our current rotation.
I would then resign Moore @ $5 million & Andrew Chaffin @ $9 per yr
I would try to pick up Hunter Renfroe from the brewers as well. He’s a non tender candidate, mainly bc of the brewers finances.

I don't mind going longer with Nick, because he is a natural candidate to move to the pen when a prospect shows he is ready to take Nick's spot in the rotation.
