He might not be there next year but who knows
They have alot of good young pitching
If they win it all, would be a perfect time for him to retire and ride off into the sunset. I just can’t ever root for the Astros tho.

Verlabder wants to pitch a few more years. Heard he wants 300 wins. Kind of like Nolan

I believe I included Taveras in a trade package I proposed a few days ago.
What would it take for Luzardo? What would it take for Alcantara?

I would think they would want both young, controllable MLB players and prospects. Of course, the package would have to be substantially better for Alcantara.

Maybe we can convince them to add Dylan Floro for our pen.

Lowe,
Heim or Taveras
Acuna
Bratt
Acker or Teodo
Kelly

for:

Alcantara
Floro
Pop

What needs to be adjusted to make it work? Does Foscue need to be part of our package?

Should we move Adolis back to CF?

A beat writer gave that as his idea of a player they would be interested in. A year ago our beat writer, Evan Grant, said we wanted Matt Olson and would pursue a trade.

The Marlins appear to need a CF, that much is true. It was only the writer's opinion that that would mean they would only trade for the two CF he suggested. The writer took a real need and offered up 2 players as his suggestions. The need is real; the suggestions are only opinion.

The fish did give up on Brinson
Who knows they may be interested in Bellinger.

The Marlins need both a CF and a 1B.

Would you trade Adolis and Lowe($5mil) in a package for Alcantara($6mil)?

Trade for Brandon Woodruff($11) and Hunter Renfroe($10)

Sign Abreu($16), Benintendi($17) & Perez($14)

Net $68 million added to payroll. Would put team at about $170 million

1.Sandy
2.Woodruff
3.Perez
4.Gray
5. Otto/Dunning

C-Heim/Huff
1B-Abreu
2B-Semien
3B-Jung
SS-Seager
LF-Benintendi
CF-Leody/Bubba
RF-Renfroe
DH-Garver/Mathias

Would also lose 6-7 prospects in the 2 deals though.

I would do the Alcantara trade I mentioned before. I would alternatively consider a slimmed down version of that trade for Luzardo instead.

If we trade Lowe, I would like to pursue Abreu.

I would sign Perez, but if we get Alcantara, Perez might become a luxury. I would take Perez in that case, but not for 4 years. I would offer him 3 years for $50-54 million. Perez is on record saying he would like to be here a couple more years, so I would offer him a two year deal first.

I wouldn't trade for any other pitchers and especially not for those who would only be here 2 or 3 years.

I have no interest in Benintendi or Renfroe.

We would lose 4 prospects in my trade.

Here’s your guy @saddles
His make up is off the charts. If we had kept Trevino we would have two guys like that. What a guy is made of and a guy with a very high baseball IQ are overlooked sometimes.

If his talent, strength and skill level grows then Smith is an ideal leadoff hitter

Very good at making the pitcher work. If he lays off the HR swing that will help. Hit the gaps and don’t overswing. Not strong enough yet
