If he has an option left, and I think he does, he would br optioned out and woukd go to the alternate training site.Maybe but then what do they do with Heim?

They decided to have one when they made the decision to delay the start of AAA.Didn’t realize they were going to have an alternative training site
Okay I just hadn’t seen that makes senseThey decided to have one when they made the decision to delay the start of AAA.
They tried it in the minors a few years back and discarded it within a year or two.I like the piggy backing scenario I think it could work out nicely...
I don't see it as a permanent thing unless they keep playing musical minor league pitchers thru perpetuity. They have a lot of guys they would like to keep, monitor their innings and control pitch counts. And since they don't have many guys they can get 200 innings out of if any why not give it a whirl and see it they can make it work...They tried it in the minors a few years back and discarded it within a year or two.
Reminds me of when they shut down their newly drafted high school pitchers after they drafted them a couple of years ago. They did that one year and it produced 3 TJ surgeries so hopefully they discarded that too.
I would like to see some discussion from baseball medical personnel about the differences in letting starters pitch normally until they reach 100-120 innings, and then shutting them down for the remainder of the season, versus letting them throw 3 or 4 innings all year long.I don't see it as a permanent thing unless they keep playing musical minor league pitchers thru perpetuity. It might not be popular with old school purists but the game is/has been changing for quite sometime, all I can say is either watch or turn the channel...
Also, I wonder what the various theories are concerning how many innings young guys should be able to throw this year. I have read some media members who thought they would only be able to throw 60 or 70 innings this year. That seems like way too few to me, but what do I know.
Another thing is, why didn't they have some of these younger guys throwing simulated games last year to keep their total innings last year from being so low.
