Levi Weaver has a new article out where he discusses which prospects have a chance to make their big league debut in 2022. He gives them in order of most likely.

The top names are Jung, Winn, Foscue, Wendzel, and Leiter, in that order.

Then he says:

"There are, of course, others — there always are. Steele Walker, Bubba Thompson, Cole Ragans, Yerry Rodriguez, Ricky Vanasco and many others could find themselves in the big leagues for the first time at some point in 2022. Likewise for guys hoping to return to the big leagues like Sam Huff, Sherten Apostel, Kyle Cody, Jake Latz and others."

I don't get Newberg's infatuation with Gallo
I wonder how bad Gallo would have to hit next year for Newberg to change his mind.

of the first 5 Jung should strongly considered for the opening day roster, the others could see some playing time after the deadline or at least the last month when rosters open up but i think if they're smart that Leiter would be better served by not rushing too fast.

of the others mentioned i would move on from Calhoun and give Walker a chance at DH and Huff and Latz should also make the opening day roster. the others are not quite ready and i thought Cody was going to miss at least a couple of months

"That's as forthright as you're ever going to hear baseball executives be in a formal setting. They're not going to give you numbers. They won't mention names. The longer you do this job, the better you get at translating the language spoken from behind a microphone or in front of a camera.

From everything that has been said, the Rangers are all in on spending the necessary price tag for any player on the market."

If you had to spend $85 million AAV this off-season who would you go after??

i wouldn't spend 85M AAV instead i would go after Syndergaard, Story and Canha/C. Taylor. and stay the course on our development

I’m ok with it as long as they sign very good young players. 30 or less to begin 22’ to 4+ year deals that make sense.

Story/Correa/Seager
Schwarber/Bryant/Joc Pederson/Conforto/Castellanos/Avisail Garcia
Jongray/Stroman/Syndergaard/rodon/Ray/
Gausman(31)

I would also be ok with signing an outfielder a little older to a 1-3 year deal like Canha/Taylor/Marte if meant we would be able to trade Adolis Garcia + for either a SP or elite young C. (Hold over for Zavala/Morrobel/Carter/Crim/Bubba
