Per Scott Lucas last podcast, he thinks it would be no big deal to remove 1/4 of the 48 players from roster which includes IL
I would imagine in 2 to 3 years there will only be a handful of our 40 man left.

Not saying he is not tradeable but he is pretty much a sure starter IMO for next season
I still think Guzman may be a better player overall.

He was one of the highest rated defensive SS's in baseball last year and it was a down year for him
His usual stellar defense slipped this year likely due to elbow injury
This may be a concern

Eleven years ago today, we got up and went to the airport to meet the returning Rangers at 3:00 AM. Great memories.

From Kevin Sherrington:

They need two more bats, at least, as well as an ace and a No. 2. Even if they hit all their targets, they couldn’t get everything they need in one offseason. But it helps, Daniels claims, that ownership is committed to a budget commensurate with the market size, meaning it could be augmented by another $100 million or more this offseason and could be as much as $175 million by 2023. Or that’s the plan, anyway.

Now you can believe Daniels or not, and you can argue whether it’s a good idea to commit so much money to so few. But the point today is that he’s put it out there for all the world to see. Seems premeditated, if you ask me, like he’s sending a message. Has any other club indicated they’re all in? For that matter, how many other clubs have we identified as potential players? Three? Maybe four? Seems like if that figure holds, the Rangers could end up with one of the shortstops almost by default.

Because as the Rangers’ general manager, Chris Young, said in the exit interviews, 90% of any free agent signing is about the money. The Rangers say they’re ready to spend some. A lot, actually.

And if they don’t live up their big talk, you’ll have something else to pin on Daniels. Sounds like a win-win to me.

I missed Baseball America's write up about our Fall Instructional League roster a few days ago. Here is what it said.

The Rangers' massive instructional league is, unsurprisingly, stocked with a host of talented prospects.

Righthander Owen White missed time with a broken hand this year, but was dazzling when he got back on the mound later in the season. He used an electric fastball and filthy breaking ball to whiff 54 hitters in 33.1 innings down the stretch with Low-A Down East. Lefthander Mitchell Bratt should also be at the top of any Rangers prospect-watcher's to-see list. Drafted this past June, the Canadian had one of the most impressive professional debuts.

If you stay toward the later innings, look out for righthander Emiliano Teodo, who can blow hitters away with a fastball that gets into the triple-digits. The wild card on the pitching side might be righthander Ricky Vanasco, who is on the way back from Tommy John surgery and has run his fastball up to 99 mph.

First-rounder Jack Leiter is not among the pitchers in camp, so the highest pick from the 2021 draft class will be Oregon outfielder Aaron Zavala. The lefty hitter gained serious helium during the course of the college season, prompting Texas to select him in the second round. Other hitters to watch include powerful outfielder Yosy Galan, whose 10 home runs were second in the Rookie-level Arizona Complex League.
