That was actually my question to him lmao!
I got answered on 3 questions
That’s a Record for me lol
Usually they go unanswered
this gives me the shivers. it sounds like we're going AGAIN for low level FA's and have another year of misery

Well I would love to find a way to package a combo of 2-3 either Solak/Calhoun/ IKF and maybe Huff to get catcher upgrade and prospect.

Just wondering how trade market goes this off-season
why Huff? i thought he was one of our future

If we sign two pitchers, then you can probably throw a young pitcher or two into that trade scenario.
why 2? it doesn't fit the plan because instead of seeing what we've got you occupy 2 of 5 starting roster spots which grinds progress to a halt.

I still like Alfaro with the Marlins. Wonder what it would take to get him back

Because you have to give to get and IMO his size and no catching work sets him up at 1B despite saying he will catch this year.

I do hope he catches but so much swing or miss makes me think of Gallo which is ok but to me only guys like that are in the lineup and they game may be evolving again

With him havung an off year in 2021 and with him eligible for arbitration, I wonder if he is a non tender possibility. If not, maybe Heim and Howard could be offered.

I want to see how Huff does catching and hitting at Round Rock next year before moving on from him.

i think the Rangers need to put him first and foremost at C. i have no problem with them using him occasional at 1st or even DH but just giving up on him as a C and making him trade fodder speaks more of how bad our grading system is than it does on his abilities. just like trading away others after only a short term view of their abilities just because some don't like them.

Also Huff was coming back from an injury which probably was concerned when it was decided where to play him

I do too but if his stock is at a high point maybe you sell. He needs to really do well if he has a shot to be an elite player

I don't think it is as high as it was a year ago, not nearly.

Re Huff. If he can indeed catch at a high level defensively then yes let’s keep. If not I think we may have other options and we will need a real good catcher who is elite defensively at a minimum. We do not have this that I see minus D Garcia

And that is the good argument to keep but if he can’t catch the his stock goes lower unless his bat catches fire

right now Howard is worth zip and Heim is the major backup catcher. i haven't seen enough to think they should be traded. and probably Miami hasn't either to make them worth anything to them. Howard will probably spend the whole year at AA or AAA with the Rangers before a decision is made on him. Heim has shown strong ability behind the plate but he still needs to show he can hit

There is always a chance that we draft a catcher as high as the second round.

I think at some point, if Huff doesn't do well in AAA in 2022, that we could sign a free agent catcher or trade for another veteran like we did for Napoli.

Any team that might trade for him will have that reservation as well.

Personally I think this offseason should focus on FA signings primarily.

only because of the fact he missed significant time due to injury. instead of writing him off why not hold off until we see him in action?

Evan Grant thinks we already have our future catcher in Ian Moller.

Regardless of Huff and what he does we have I believe 5 catchers on the 40 man. I would think 3 is ideal unless you have a young fourth who is destined to start here

So yes I would like to upgrade at catcher and move one out

He is in AZ I believe but perhaps this is more click bait and human interest.
We need better catching regardless
