Or perhaps a bias. I think our payroll is so low players should think we can add several winning pieces and we have a farm that should impress, especially the pitching
I tend to think it is ignorance on the part of national guys. I remember they used to make the same kind of mistake, but in reverse. There were 3 or 4 offseasons there where the national guys expected us to go after big money free agents when JD had plainly said we would not.

Of course, there were a handful of guys who were on this forum back then who were just as ignorant and claimed JD was not being forthright. They have since left the board.

I see articles going over our 2021 season in detail, player by player. I'm sorry, but we didn't have enough guys worth writing too much about. A whole lot of these guys will be gone before the 2024 season. They are not the future.

Due to our losing record he does not see us landing anything but second tier.
Excuses perhaps!

I see a lot of articles saying the Rangers are planning to be very active in the FA market. They always mention who they’re probably NOT going after. Who ARE they going after with all that money??

If you're a big-name free agent who gets an offer (even a major offer) from the Rangers, you have to be very confident that the team is on the right track to contend by 2023. Otherwise, you'll get some real second-hand remorse about locking yourself in for at least a few more years of losing baseball when you could've joined a winner.

That's why I tend to think Texas will aim for the second-tier FAs at most. A team like Seattle or even Detroit can better promote itself as being on the cusp of contention, whereas the Rangers just lost 102 games.

That was actually my question to him lmao!
I got answered on 3 questions
That’s a Record for me lol
Usually they go unanswered

Yeah, I know. It’s bad. Just really like the guy. It would be cool to have two big guys with massive power and cannons splitting Catching/DH 81 games at both spots.
Sam Huff & Melendez would be a bad ass combo

Reading Jeff Wilson's update this morning, I saw that the Rangers are working Dustin Harris in RF in Instructs. He played his normal 1B and some 3B during the season. Wilson said, "the Rangers think he could handle himself capably in the outfield corners."

This is from Wilson also.

"The days are winding down for the instructional league in Arizona. Play will end here Friday."

"But the Rangers won’t quite be done. They will resume game next week in Texas as minor-leaguers go barnstorming against four well-known college teams."

"First up is a flight to Lubbock ahead of a 3 p.m. game Monday at Texas Tech. The Rangers will board buses after the game and drive to Arlington, get some sleep, and play next Tuesday at Dallas Baptist."

"The Rangers will have a day off Oct. 27 before driving to Waco for a game against Baylor. The four-game tour will end Oct. 29 against TCU at Lupton Stadium in Fort Worth."

"Right-handers Ricky Vanasco and TK Roby are expected to pitch against the Horned Frogs."

I might just have to try and attend one of those games in the Metroplex.

Well shit, they'll be in Waco? I might try to go myself.

Good news re Dustin Harris. Perhaps 2023 MLB entry?
Yes I am thinking this club will look drastically different in 2023. With Jung Foscue and Harris. A new Shortstop and maybe we pick up a LF or CF. Love to see upgrade at catcher

Well I would love to find a way to package a combo of 2-3 either Solak/Calhoun/ IKF and maybe Huff to get catcher upgrade and prospect.

Just wondering how trade market goes this off-season

I really, really like Josh Smith personally and I hope he can force his way onto this team at some position. I have heard him and his wife talk about how wonderful it was to be traded to the Rangers because they grew up in Louisiana. They are really wanting to raise a family here in the area. It seems like I tend to find a personal favorite among our prospects and he quickly became that after we traded for him.

If we do land a FA shortstop, it would probably mean Josh becoming an outfielder since we have Foscue for 2B. I get the feeling though, that at some point, another one of my personal favorites will be traded away. I guess, if we somehow get shutout with the FA shortstops, my silver lining will be that Josh Smith will become the favorite to take the position some day.

If we sign two pitchers, then you can probably throw a young pitcher or two into that trade scenario.
