Here it is I was off by one player it was 8 Reds made a killing off this trade...Of course
Kind of like the Rangers the Astros wanted that big bat at 1B. Billingham was pretty good, Menke was ok and CG was great defensively. I thought Helms and Morgan was not too much difference and of course I was wrongHere it is I was off by one player it was 8 Reds made a killing off this trade...

Redleg Trade Review: Joe Morgan for Lee May - Redleg Nation
November 29, 1971: Joe Morgan is traded by the Houston Astros with Ed Armbrister, Jack Billingham, Cesar Geronimo and Denis Menke to the Cincinnati Reds for Tommy Helms, Lee May and Jimmy Stewart. This is the most famous trade in Cincinnati Reds history, bar none, and the one trade that made the...www.redlegnation.com
I used to follow the Reds until I was assigned to Texas in 89 and I haven't really kept up with them much since. I go to a game if the kids wanna go but I don't watch/listen to the games anymore, but I do check the scores/standings once in awhile. The only team I keep up with is the Rangers and then that's only so much cause I have other things going on and they're never on TV up here unless it's inter league play. I used to watch all of the sports but in the last 10 years I've been finding other things to do to keep busy/amused, I'm guessing that's because I'm not active in any of them anymore unless it's teaching the Grandkids something...
Just think that trade was 50 years agoKind of like the Rangers the Astros wanted that big bat at 1B. Billingham was pretty good, Menke was ok and CG was great defensively. I thought Helms and Morgan was not too much difference and of course I was wrong
I'd give up a couple of lower prospects for Gray and call it a day, the Reds are going to want major return for the other two and the Rangers don't need to do that just yet. Marlins have a bunch of good young pitchers too...Reds are looking to trade Sonny Gray and/or Tyler Mahle and/or Luis Castillo, what would you offer for 1 or 2 of them?
i don't want to do anything but i think it would take at least Otto, Allard and maybe BurkeI'd give up a couple of lower prospects for Gray and call it a day, the Reds are going to want major return for the other two and the Rangers don't need to do that just yet. Thought it was longer. Knew it was before the Rangers existedJust think that trade was 50 years ago
Most of them are now dead only 2 are still alive I think, Morgan went last year I wonder who got all of his car dealershipsThought it was longer. Knew it was before the Rangers existed
To me Sonny Gray is a one year trade unless he does well and you pick up his team option for the following season or the kids "underwhelm you" this year...i don't want to do anything but i think it would take at least Otto, Allard and maybe Burke
until the CBA is approved and signed all we got is maybe'sTo me Sonny Gray is a one year trade unless he does well and you pick up his team option for the following season or the kids "underwhelm you" this year...
Reds are wanting to get rid of salary but still remain competitive, and so you have a little bargaining power with them. They supposedly have at least one maybe 2 pitching prospects in their system they're looking at calling up for next year. Their middle infield is a mess (Suarez got moved to SS and sucked he's way better at 3rd and where he needs to go back to) and I'm seeing they would dearly love to get rid of Moustakas (2B) and what is left of his dumb contract. So the way I see it is offer them a decent pitching prospect and a middle infielder prospect and they just might bite...
I'm kinda thinking what the Rangers do pitching wise might all revolve around if they can corral Suzuki or not, somebody pretty good if they do (Kershaw if he's healthy) or nothing but a cheap innings eater if they don't...
Heck the Rangers may not get anymore SP until they see how the kids are going to do this year, but I kinda doubt that I think they will get another veteran. Not being a fly on the wall makes it kinda hard to predict what the front office is going to do, I guess we'll see...
No clues re that. Remembering he was a part of those HOF deaths. Time fliesMost of them are now dead only 2 are still alive I think, Morgan went last year I wonder who got all of his car dealerships
FWIW I think service time will be a tweak in the CBA but regardless unless Jung has a tough spring he will be starting especially if we sign Suzuki This is the look the Rangers want to look like they are ready to compete. Of course we are a long shot without pitchingWho's Blocking Josh Jung?

We may have pitching and not be aware of it. A few RBI can prove a lot. Many times this year we lost by a run or two when a base hit could have made a losing pitcher a winner. This year may prove what kind of pitching we really have.FWIW I think service time will be a tweak in the CBA but regardless unless Jung has a tough spring he will be starting especially if we sign Suzuki This is the look the Rangers want to look like they are ready to compete.
