and with Lyles, Holt and Culberson free agents, we're down to 34 slots in the 40-man but of course we have 6 on the 60-day IL who automatically are moved from it and back onto the 40-man. also there's a good chance that Arihara opts to bypass the last year of his contract and returns to Japan

then it should be easy to clear enough spaces for our rule-5 prospects and sign 2 or 3 FA's

We may get rid of a few more than we have to just so we can pick up some players who will get cut from other teams who will be better than our additional fodder. The pitcher we recently picked up, Colina, is a great example of that.

Castellanos is great but if he signs with us it is with another opt out clause.

Thinking we get 2 solid free agents not this amount

Scott Lucas on the 40 man downsizing:

"The Rangers have 46 players on the 40-man roster: 38 active and eight on the 60-day Injured List. They have to reduce to a hard 40 immediately after the playoffs and then down to, say, the low-30s within a few weeks after that to accommodate 40-man additions and potential free agents. That means about one-third of the end-of-season roster won't be offered a 2021 MLB contract. Sounds like a daunting task, but to be blunt, I've played around with the roster and didn't have much trouble downsizing it."

We have to realize that there are many on the 40 man roster that several of us, and others, like Halicke, have very different views about. Don't be surprised by those differing views.

Our views, while discussion provoking, aren't going to change the course of the franchise. Save your ire for when the Rangers disagree with you. Their views alter the course, not ours.

That didn't make sense to me either, but then I disagree with a lot of what he thinks will happen. Then again, it is about what he thinks the Rangers will do and not what he thinks they should do.

I could care less about his views, the sad part is there is really nobody else to put out there. Makes me wish we still had Wisdom to throw out there...

I am not so sure of that. What they will and what they should often the same for him methinks

He totes the company line and snuggles up with the reporting rah rah team making sure all is politically correct.
But of course I am biased against the TV crew

Might be but have not seen him go out on a limb for any individual opinion. Trying to be nice but guess he just rubs me the wrong way
