I am thinking Willie is our DH. Cruz is still in the market though if we don’t get Suzuki.

Yes it will be interesting what Rangers do to convert specific IF to OF

A few things stand out:

Man... imagine an OF of Juando and Sosa on those 90's teams.

The payroll back then is laughably small compared to now.

Had the Rangers added a few different pieces here and there, they probably could have gone further than they did, sooner than they did.

If Eddie Chiles would have had more cash they might have.

Looking over prospects list earlier, I was reminded how much Fangraphs tends to make some very unique evaluations. They didn't even have Melendez close to being in the top 100. They did have Foscue at 78 and Duran about 111 if I remember correctly.

just don't feel the love toward Willie that y'all do. i think the DH last name is Calhoun but the 1st is Kole. outfield to me is Suzuki in LF, Adolis in RF with either Taveras or Peters in CF

I agree. That guy caused us lots of grief when he was with the Angels. Glad to have him.

I think it takes Cole Winn to land Melendez. Bleacher Report has updated their prospects list since MLB has and they have Melendez at 44 and Winn at 69. One site has Melendez above Jung. So Winn may not be enough by himself.

Man if so, I’d rather just keep Winn.

I would do Foscue, Wendzel, Ronny Henriquez and Brett Martin though.
That’s a Top 100(67), 2 from our top 10-20 and a major league contributor. I would even take on Mike Minor or Carlos Santana and their $10 million lol

He's pretty consistently average based on what I looked up last night, he's not a liability though, I think he ends up in LF and Garcia RF, CF to be determined, since we still need a lead off guy

They would never do that though. Not a single one of those guys is ranked anywhere close to Melendez. Would you trade any of our guys, ranked even as high as Winn, for a package like that? I mean of you wouldn't trade Winn for that package, they certainly wouldn't trade Melendez for it.

Melendez is a great prospect, but if you are going to even try prying him away from the Royals, you are going to have to come up with a package that hurts us a lot more than that.

he signed a 2 year deal with Arizona and played a little over 100 games i expect he will see time in the OF for us but i expect a lot of his playing time will be at DH

Yeah, I want them to go ahead and field the best team they can this year without trading away a certain 9 or so guys lol
Make the team as good as possible then reevaluate come July 25th and go from there lol

Leiter, Jung, Winn, Roby, Carter, Smith, Acuna, Zavala and Harris would be the guys I would hate to see go.

There are others I wouldn’t want to see go but would be ok with.. like Vanasco, White, Foscue, Duran, Huff, Acosta etc..it will probably take guys like this to get any kind of decent return.. could probably package one of these with IKF or Brett Martin and also include another prospect not mentioned in this post.

I would say Leiter, Jung, Winn, Roby, Vanasco, Smith, White, Foscue, and Duran.
