Would you do 5 for $150 with 2 very makeable options?

I'd be a little more inclined to do that.

My hesitancy is more about plugging in a long term and expensive fixture at 1B now (this offseason), when I don't think it's crucial. My plan would be to stagger the FA money this offseason and next offseason, and signing Freeman now dips into the budget I'd rather see them save for next year.

Josh Bell is a free agent next year. He's a DFW native and 2 years younger than Freeman, and isn't going to command a $30m+ AAV. He'd be an upgrade over what we have now and we'd have him in his prime.

I think if we aren't going after someone on Freeman's level, I would just as soon see what our system produces at 1B in either Huff, Harris, or Crim. The only FA I would consider for 1B are Freeman this year and Muncy next year.

Well, that's definitely another reason I don't want to splurge on Freeman right now.

Another is that I think they should go after one of the several SP's that could be available next offseason.

Which SP do you have in mind?

Are you sure you aren't wanting to save money for Gallo next offseason?

I wouldn’t mind Josh Bell if Nate Lowe doesn’t do well, but I strongly believe Nate Lowe will do well this coming up year.
.265/.355/.450 .805 OPS with 25 HRs and a 30 doubles 3-3.5 WAR. IMO

I don't know how Nate will do, but 2022 should be his at 1B so we get a better idea of what we've got with him.

Nate Lowe is not the number one replacement needed at this point. He may be ok

He probably does need to be replaced at some point, just like almost every other position.

It was nice to see that Foscue got a couple of hits today, including a home run. I think this is their last regular game. He ended up with an OPS of .897 even though he struggled the last couple of weeks.

Anyone else getting the vibe Trevor Story is going to the Astros?

Would Story take this? And would the Astros offer this? I think they won’t offer even this much

I am getting the feeling the Rangers are concentrating on Seager and not thebother two. If that is the case I think they are making a mistake. The 2011 Rangers could have taken that avenue, but the 2021 Rangers have to go all out after all three in order to land one of them.

all they had was a Plan A with no plan if it failed.
