I didn't take his word for it. I told him I disagreed with him. We went back and forth on the subject several times.

No excuses this time. None.

You cannot discount everything they say though. They do get some things right at times that we would never be able to. There is a very fine line between trusting them and trusting them too much.

Yes, sometimes the results match the speculation. But they aren't ever influenced by it.

I guess I just have a different way of looking at it. It doesn't mean anything to me that a journalist got a scoop ahead of others. The information is still the same, we just got it a little earlier. Makes no difference to me what Evan Grant thinks will happen or what Jeff Passan is hearing.

Ok the here is my FA pitching assessment. I don’t mind some incentive laden Kershaw signing but a gross overpay is counter intuitive and yes do agree that I would not expect a ton of innings out of him the coming year.

Just think a big SS signing and one more legit starter like the Suzuki bid will start to give us credibility. We will need another starter. If he has Josie’s then multiple years is fine with me

I'm on board with this.

If they come away with a SS target and Suzuki, I will call that a successful offseason. There are starters out there I'd be OK with bringing on board, but for SP I'm looking at middle tier, shorter term contracts.

I would like Kershaw on a one or two year deal. I wouldn't mind one more starter on a one year deal. The only pitcher I would be interested in for a longer term is Stroman.

Give me a top 3 SS and I will be happy. Add Suzuki and I will be almost ecstatic.

Seager, Semien Among Free Agents Who Could Sign Early

I do like reading things like this:

"some in the industry expect that at least some of the offseason’s most aggressive teams (e.g. Rangers, Tigers, Mariners, Blue Jays) could be highly active in the days and hours leading up to the current agreement’s expiration"

"A lack of luxury-tax concern among Texas, Detroit, Seattle and Toronto surely dovetails with expectations that they could act more quickly than, say, the Yankees or Dodgers"

just because it's nice seeing the Rangers being considered as potential big players in the market.

I would like Kershaw as well but I would prefer some incentive-laden cushioning. I can't go through another Kluber scenario.

Yankees need a SS, probably wouldn’t mind a hold over until one of their top prospects is ready.
Ikf for Gallo? Lol

The Braves offered Freeman 5/135 (27m AAV), which he turned down. Seems like a bit of a lowball offer, but does provide an idea of what market we're looking at.

I’m surprised he turned that down

MLBTraderumors said he would get 6 years for $180 million so yes, it is somewhat of a potbelly offer. I would like to see us attempt to get him.

If we’re going to sign a 6 year deal I’d rather go with Story, Baez or even Schwarber.

I would assume, could be wrong but the last 4 years of the deal he may decline heavily. His age 34, 35, 36 and 37 season.
Seems like a candidate for a 4 year deal.
For all he’s done for the Braves I could see them doing 5. Maybe they can up it to $31 AAV over 5.

Bowden has suggested 6 for $187.

4 years won't get it done

I would rather spend money on a SS than Freeman
