OK, enough of this tomfoolery. They need to sign someone so we can get pissed off about it!

Bryan Reynolds wasn't always valued as well as he is now. So, who knows, Carter, Smith, or Duran may be the future CF we need and turn out to be the new Reynolds. Or, we may get him in the draft next summer.

Looking at Josh Smiths numbers. He has always had a very sky high OBP .425 ish.
He could very well be our answer at CF.
Not hard to believe he could be a .250/.360/.450 in the majors as soon as even next season. I’m sure he will get more time at AA next year and would believe he will do even better once actually called up. Probably closer to .265/.370/.450 his first year.
He’s not like a Yonny Hernandez who can’t punish strikes in the zone with weak power.
Smith has the bat speed and power to make a pitcher pay if they try to just over load him with strikes.

Man I’m excited about our young guys

I think the best Comp for Josh Smith would be Adam Frazier.
Very valuable underrated type player.
I think Smith might hit a few more HRs but a little lower average.
Frazier also started out as a SS then moved to CF
Now a 2B/LF

I would like to start hearing that we have talked to the representatives of all three of the SS.

“While the new proposal contains the same age threshold for free agency qualification, Evan Drellich, Ken Rosenthal and Eno Sarris of the Athletic report that this offer would tie pre-free agency pay directly to a player’s Wins Above Replacement tally. Under this structure, a player’s service time and career WAR marks (weighted to emphasize the most recent seasons more heavily) would set the player’s salary. While multiple websites calculate WAR totals in different ways, MLB’s proposal would base salaries on FanGraphs’ WAR tabulations.“

Hate to say it but I would take the above on the none category
33% not including Baez. Wonder if they settle for Semien if they put him at SS.
Don’t think we get Corea, maybe Seager. Most likely Story. If it comes down to Baez, I would rather keep IKF and wait a year or two

Wow, you are very pessimistic. They should have more money to offer than any other team. If they cannot get one with their financial resources, they might want to find a new way to make a living.

This idea is ridiculous.

More overglorification of WAR as well.

my concern is players all things equal want to go where they can win. We have not yet truly moneywhpped anyone. Sort of like when we lost in Greinke. And yet you likely hate to hear it Rendon

We lost out on resigning Cliff Lee which never should have happened but was a blessing.

Point is signing one of the big 3 is no slam dunk and 66% is fairly optimistic and that is because CY is selling the team. I think getting Correa is about 10%. Highly doubt he comes here. Too much past bad blood

We haven't tried to moneywhip anyone. We were competitive with Lee and Beltre, but we didn't moneywhip them.

We never left the gate with Rendon. JD looked very foolish that time. It is on par with the Astros offer to Correa. Lol

Over the course of a long term contract there will be losing and winning. How much of each that there will be, can only be guessed at. The amount of money and where they can call home are givens throughout the contract. Those are the biggest factors in signing a long term deal.

No excuses this time. None.

How so? Cliff Lee exceeded the value of the contract he signed, and was an absolute stud for 3 of those seasons. Then he got hurt and missed the last year and a half, but the Phillies had already gotten their money's worth before that... the missed season was disappointing but the contract overall was not

Kershaw is a good signing, he makes it look like we're spending money and he'll get hurt and a young starter still has to pitch 10-15 games

Im on board with Bryant, Suzuki, Story, Gomes, Kershaw and Gray/Stroman

Hell I'd even take a flier on Martinez

We have a lot of pitchers that are going to be cycled in and out due to injuries, ineffectiveness and innings limits, and stuck in that 75-150 innings range, I doubt there's going to be much of an issue next year for filling all our starts with qualified candidates

Otto
Alexy
Hearn
Allard
Dunning
Howard
King
Cody
TBD

The last 1 might as well be a rotation member next season as well
