Heim could easily have a long term future with club and Trevino get traded if we find value. We have a lot of good options at catcher
Area of strength currently
Kind of reminds us of Teagarden, Salty, and Max?

I read that, newly acquired, Dane Acker, made history pitching for OU last year, when he became the first pitcher to ever throw a nine-inning no-hitter against LSU.

It seems that a lot of people like both prospects that we picked up.

Max or Pudge? We had a logjam back then but don’t remember Max
Max Ramirez. Oh, how quickly we forget. Ramirez was supposed to be the best hitter of the bunch. We acquired him in a trade for Kenny Lofton the same year we acquired Salty in the Teixeira trade.

Our best logjam at catcher was back when we had Petralli, Stanley, and Slaught all on the team with Pudge and Kreuter in the minors. Now, that was some catching talent.

I remember I frequented the DMN Rangers board back when the Salty and Teagarden debates were going on. The UT fans all favored Teagarden and called Salty, Sasquatch. The fans who hated UT thought they had to choose Salty and hated that nickname.

Miss Fraley although admit he ticked me off at times. He was a straight shooter

Of course with these two add ons and any others in the minors it is good to be excited and hope that they become incredible players for the Rangers we all know what happens most of the time. Nothing like when Juan Gone, Pudge and Greer were all coming up. You just knew those guys had it in them.

My 2 cents is: between the batting average and being a Boras client, plus the Rangers being in rebuild mode, my inclination is to trade Joey.

Joey's a good dude and I'd love for him to be the centerpiece of the Rangers when they get back to being a force in the AL. But if he hit for .225 that would be a marked improvement for him, and not only is that a 6'5" if, but I would prefer the Rangers not pay Boras money to a .225 hitter, let alone one who struggles to even get hit .200.

I realize he brings other things to the table, but are those worth the contract he's going to get?

It is going to be one of those situations where the better he is, the easier it will be to find a good trade while being harder to part with him. Conversely, the worse he plays, the easier it will be to part with him and the harder it will be to find a good trade. It puts the front office in a very difficult position.

Well put. No room for a player like that in a true rebuild. Hope we trade him and if he improves then good for him. He is a nice guy and hope he has a good career but at this time I can not see how we keep him if he can be traded.

Definitely a convoluted hypothetical situation all around with Gallo.
