No More "Bullpen Failure"
After the 2022 season for both of them. When will Elvis and odor both be gone?
Elvis can vest the 2023 year option if he is traded or if he plays very much this year and/or next.

Agree and I was looking at the mega $$$ for bench players and one of them in particular not named Elvis. It's an enormous amount of money to pay to ride the bench. It will look a lot less silly than if we let them continue to start though.
okay we’ll agree to disagreeWe disagree on how much cash we would have to give up. In fact, if Oakland is the team then my original estimate of what we would have to pay of his salary was probably low. Oakland is as cheap as they come. Going there would probably cost us more in his no trade buyout as well. No one wants to play there.
No one is going to give up good prospects for a backup infielder and no one is going to want to be on the hook for much of his salary.
If we put them on the that’s half of the normal bench. Odor is totally useless as a pinchhitter and he’s limited to 2B. Elvis is a little better but it leaves us with few options we have to carry a catcher and a 4th outfielder so trading/cutting are the only other options and either means ratting all or most of their contractsAgree and I was looking at the mega $$$ for bench players and one of them in particular not named Elvis. That is why they told both of them they should learn other positions when the season ended. I think if Odor doesn't learn another position or two, then he will be released. If we put them on the that’s half of the normal bench. Odor is totally useless as a pinchhitter and he’s limited to 2B. either way we are looking at $26583333 sitting on the bench or eaten salary just for 2021That is why they told both of them they should learn other positions when the season ended. I think if Odor doesn't learn another position or two, then he will be released.
It is progress, and a lot of it, that they aren't standing in the middle of the field.either way we are looking at $26583333 sitting on the bench or eaten salary just for 2021
won't disagree but that amounts to 2 dead spots on the rosterIt is progress, and a lot of it, that they aren't standing in the middle of the field.
If they weren't in those spots two veterans from somewhere else would be there. The money is not keeping us from signing a good free agent so that part doesn't bother me.won't disagree but that amounts to 2 dead spots on the roster
why would we have to sign 2 veterans? why not Apostel & White? If they weren't in those spots two veterans from somewhere else would be there. The money is not keeping us from signing a good free agent so that part doesn't bother me.
They are going to play everyday somewhere. They will not be sitting on our bench until the club loses faith in their prospect status. White might change to that status soon, but I don't believe he is just yet.why would we have to sign 2 veterans? why not Apostel & White?
Here is a quote from JD.
“On a minimum level, I think we would add some depth and competition in a variety of areas, infield being one, pitching being another,” Daniels said. “Not just competition — we could sign a veteran, either starter or reliever, potentially both. But the nature of this winter has been kind of slow, so we’re still having a variety of talks, both free agent and trade.”
don't agree Odor does not come close to delivering anything worth krrping him. place him on release waivers and see if any other team takes him. still think that Elvis might accept the right trade to the right team for the opportunity to play everyday. his contract would be 3 years $43M (last year becomes player option if traded) and if Rangers offered to eat around $7M a year we could get 2 things: (1) prospects back that may or may not be worth anything and (2) an open roster spot that we could fill with one of our worthy prospects like Apostel or a FA.Could easily see Odor being platooned and Elvis being the utility player. Actually Odor delivers more when something is on the line then everyday but yes he has beast shot at outright release. Elvis is here for 2 more years
It is from an article this week by Levi Weaver at The Athletic. The article is behind a paywall.when? Link?
