Could easily see Odor being platooned and Elvis being the utility player. Actually Odor delivers more when something is on the line then everyday but yes he has beast shot at outright release. Elvis is here for 2 more years
Nothing will be on the line while he is under contract though. It has been so long since we coukd say something is on the line that even if that could have once been said about him, it probably isn't the case any longer.

Ultimately true but when you are at bat with runners on, you really want to deliver on a personal note.
Do hope we have no positions blocked. Still 3B up for grabs at this point

I think they will bring in a cheap veteran on a one year deal for 3B, until they think Jung is ready.

Levi Weaver's analysis of what he sees for Huff in the coming months:

"If: there is a minor league season, and
If: Huff stomps all over minor-league pitching and
If: Jose Trevino doesn’t bring the heat at the big-league level"

"…then I could envision Huff as the starter by year’s end. The Ranger are not going to bring him up to be a backup, and 23 is still fairly young for a catching prospect, so it’s possible they slowplay him with an eye toward 2023 as the season when he threatens that 144-game mark that Pudge set so long ago."

Incredible to thank that 23 is still considered young for a catching prospect, and Pudge was in his 4th season and already dominant at that age

Cubs supposedly looking for starting pitching do you think they might consider Gibson or Lyles?

There are about 29 SP still available through free agency. I would imagine they would be willing to pursue many of those before giving up something in trade. Now, if Lyles or Gibson pitches much better this year then maybe some interest can be drawn at the trade deadline.

I thought that too but most of those 29 are barely adequate or mediocre but so are Gibson and Lyles

Exactly, that is why it would be hard to understand them making a trade at this point.

Actually, Lyles was much less than adequate or mediocre last year. We may have to release him at some point.

damn i want to see the young guys this year but with Gibson, Lyles, Andrus, Odor and others occupying roster spots it seems that we're going to have issues with seeing them until after September 1 which sucks

There aren't any young guy worth a shit that are being blocked. That's the most depressing part.

Leody, Jung, and Huff are the only decent prospects on the horizon. None of them are being blocked.

What about Taveras or Benjamin or Palumbo for a few?

I surely don't want our prospects getting sparse playing time but rostered. Elvis can take the utility role. We have a vet Culberson in the wings. Really doubt if Odor starts. Much ado about nothing
