I am not sweating a low cost contract for a Japanese non elite pitcher for only 2 years given the attrition of pitching. Lynn ate a lot of innings and that void needs to be filled. If we have so much major league ready pitching do a 6 man rotation lol. Rather have guys develop in the minors. However Wes B and Cody could handle MLB IMO. Palumbo health been an issue Allard looked bad
Don’t think pitchers being blocked is and issue but if it becomes one we can trade one of the vets

I would prefer Tavares get his development up here. He’s gong to play every day
3B is the one question mark. Everything else is fairly set except competition for 2B which we were told was Solaks to lose

Here is a list of some starting pitchers that I would like to see get a crack at our rotation sometime in the next 21 months.

Hearn
Burke
Allard
Palumbo
Phillips
Dunning
Crouse
Winn
Henriquez
Alexy
Bahr
Latz
King
Rodriquez
It will be interesting to see how they do this season. Some of these guys will get MLB starts this season Maybe even King.

We don’t have the depth for Taveras not to be the everyday CF’er. Expect that Dahl opens the season in LF, Taveras in CF and Gallo in RF

Some of them will get multiple starts but only if we find ways to move Gibson and Lyles.

Short term injuries are inevitable for pitchers not named Lynn

Re Leody. No need to pick up another CF

I get the idea that they want Jung to have at least another half season in the minors. I would imagine they feel the same about Huff and Cody as well, maybe a whole season for them. Then we will have to decide what to do with Trevino if Huff is to be our catcher.
agree. always felt that Jung is the answer at 3B and want him there to open the season but the pragmatic part of me understands he needs time at AAA. at least half probably all of 2021

As I thought they want an innings eater and this is probably the first pure GM move IMO

Should the Rangers look into Marwin Gonzalez for 3B?
If not who should they sign or trade for to fill the gap for a year possibly 2?
What about Tyler Naquin for back up CF and COF as well as DH. Maybe make Gallo a little more expendable.

With his build and eagerness to learn more I hope he’s able to be coachable and get on track.

Marwin is likely expensive for a rental.

I could be wrong but I don’t see him costing much this off-season.
What about Jonathan Villar?
Would rather have Marwin though

How about Miguel Andujar for 3B?

and Renata Nunez for DH on a 1 year deal?

Not a bad idea. I wonder if the Yankees are going to move him to 2B to fill the hole left by dj lemahieu.
I like Nunez for DH a ton! If we did sign him I would want to trade Calhoun for more of a defensive minded OBP outfielder who can handle CF. To be the 4th OF

No problem from me but Calhoun might......D/H
3B just needs to be a Frazier type. Not familiar with Andujar

For Rangers fans curious about Kohei Arihara, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News suggests that Colby Lewis could be a decent comp for the newly-signed right-hander in terms of eating innings and a similar ability to record outs without the help of a big fastball. The Rangers would certainly be more than pleased if Arihara were to duplicate Lewis’ numbers (4.27 ERA and an average of 166 innings per year) from 2010-16, and GM Chris Young told Grant and other reporters that the team was hopes Arihara can “stabilize the rotation” in terms of covering innings, at the very least.

Guys when we bring people in we also have to send people out. That is why it is hard for me to know what deals to make. Example: 1.You want to bring in a DH, no problem, then we have to do something with Calhoun. 2. Why bring in a CF when Gallo is fine there and Solak can play RF if needed. 3. We may not see Gallo much longer so we may want to get another RF. Just food for thought. 4. A 3B can be anyone on the cheap since we are not playing for anything rather rebuilding and evaluating and we don't know if FO wants a FA or bringing up Jung.
For every action there is a equal reaction.
