Can he play 2b lol
Probably around 5.00 or greater.Well here’s to hoping his ERA isn’t in the mid 4s the whole time he’s with us. Maybe some coaching can get him to be a mid 3s starters.
Hope he’s not another Yusei Kikuchi.
Probably around 5.00 or greater.
Wasted time....Probably.. you look at Kikuchi and Yamaguchi. MLB is quite a bit harder and you can expect ERA to go up 1-1.5 clicks and sometimes a lot more if the guy isn’t used to adversity.
4.7-5.2 ERA if he keeps his head on his shoulders and doesn’t get overwhelmed from not being dominant like he’s used too. If it gets in his head he will implode.. IMO
Not much if any better.......This guy just seems to be someone else to get in the way of our young starters. He might be a little better than Lyles.
i'll wait and see before i start degrading the signing. but it probably means that Gibson or Lyles or both get traded before the season starts. even right now our starting pitching is Gibson, Lyles, Dunning, Arihara & ? Allard probably needs to be at AAA, Benjamin & Cody are both probably a year away. This guy just seems to be someone else to get in the way of our young starters. He might be a little better than Lyles.
who exactly is he blocking? not one of our young pitchers is close to being ready for prime time. the closest is probably Allard and Palumbo. Allard showed that he needs another year at AAA to fine tune his stuff and Palumbo probably does too. everyone else is at least 2 years away so Arihara's 2 year deal fills that gap and if someone is ready earlier he can be traded etcThis guy just seems to be someone else to get in the way of our young starters. He might be a little better than Lyles.
i believe that we should be starting our young POSITIONAL players like Huff, Jung, Tejeda & Taveras. i just don't think our young pitchers are up to facing MLB batters. the closest are Allard who i don't think is ready and maybe PalumboAs i see the team at present, we are about equivalent to AAA level all but one or two. Also we do not expect to win much. Perfect time to play young players without spending new money. What good can we get out of these Japanese pitchers that we don't already have. IMO play guys already on board until we need better help and we have time to do that.
From what I hear Arihara isn't either but we don't know that for sure.i believe that we should be starting our young POSITIONAL players like Huff, Jung, Tejeda & Taveras. i just don't think our young pitchers are up to facing MLB batters. the closest are Allard who i don't think is ready and maybe Palumbo
i don't know about him either but compared to the kids he is a step ahead of them. the Japanese league is like AAAAFrom what I hear Arihara isn't either but we don't know that for sure.
Positional players can more easily deal with slumps etc. Pitchers on the other hand can be adversely affected so we need to be more careful how we move themI see us in a bind. We won't win any thing so play as many position players as possible and see who makes the cut. Same with pitching and then pick up a couple of FA pitchers as needed. I hope we might be surprised at one or possibly two young pitchers. Like I stated we are in a bind. Flip a coin and hope it comes up heads. First time in a long time we haven't had some veteran starters to begin a season. Elvis is past that time so we really don't have a leader. May look for some rough time for a while.
We have too many problems to start a season. No real idea who starts other than Catcher and SS. Absolutely have no big bats that are proven consistent. Gallo and Huff are in that group and that is it. And of course pitching. IKF is probably the best all around player we have to start the year. Slowly JD has messed this team up and thank goodness we have a new GM.Positional players can more easily deal with slumps etc. Pitchers on the other hand can be adversely affected so we need to be more careful how we move them
