To me the book is still not complete on Gallo. May be a bit premature to dismiss him as Fools Gold

Not dismissing Gallo but if the return is good enough we need to go for it

There is nothing about Gallo for two seasons that indicate his offensive production is getting better. Like Scotty said, if the return is good enough trade him.

I doubt if anything I say will have any sway in your opinion of Gallo He had a great season prior to Covid season.
You don't sell low and his stock is now low. He will have a better season. Hopefully his head is better than last year. He had personal issues

My opinion is not made up. I said we should not trade him unless we get a good return. If he can get it together than all the better.

Good way to look at it especially if 2023 is a valid target date to compete. Hard to know what anyone will do in a two year span.

RE: trading Gallo. The "time was right" about 2-3 years ago, in my opinion. I think he's hit his ceiling and he is what he's going to be. Unless they ban the shift, he's going to hit for a low average. Light tower power, and a cannon arm in OF with decent range considering his size. I think they might as well hang on to him.

But yes I agree re trade him if return is a good. I am definitely not married to holding on to him. Plus Boras is agent so there is a chance he walks in FA. The ballpark may now not suit him as well
Do think if a team has too many sluggers vs pure hitters this is a recipe for disaster. 2 is enough in the lineup. But if strikeouts are down then good.
That all being said I hope he has confidence he can get HRs in this park. It got into his head

Other than his arm there really has not been much to crow about lately. He may rebound and then I would trade him if returns were fair.I really don't think he will be of much help in 2023.

Agree 100%. He was having a good year for him in 2019 before going on the DL. He is definitely extremely athletic as he has really taken to being in RF which is a great fit for him with his speed and cannon for an arm. If he could get back on track like he was in 2019 then we have something there.

One last thing re Gallo. It would good to see him get protection in the lineup. A guy sees more pitches then. And not pitched around
