Giving up on a 24 y/o Mazara for the privilege of paying a 37 y/o Choo 21 million, yay

I see him with a contending team being more than this......Yes indeed he's a good to terrific leadoff hitter for sure.

Granted his D is 'very' limited but he can play both corner spots on selected days, as you mentioned DH, and he does a great job of getting on base in some-form-or-fashion. He works the pitcher, gets walks/HBP as good as just about anyone, hits with decent power/avg, runs semi-effectively. Seems to be a good teammate, and has a lot of 'been there, done that' experience.

1. Choo has 10/5 rights. He can refuse a trade to anyone. Reports are his family is happy here.

2. Choo makes $21 million. He put up 1.7 war last year. Not a single team in MLB is going to pay $21 million for Choo.

I mentioned that the other day about him and he is a bulldog. Great playoff competitor because of that. Agree with you on this and he is 30 so not as old as I thought he was.

Wake up to Mazara moved and Cole to the evil empire. The world is a bit sadder now. I get we needed to move Gallo to RF and now IMO eventually to 1B. Mazara potential still unlocked.

This cements more playing time for Solak and Willie Rakes. Choo was the better player than Mazara but....

Some say the price for a Rendon just went up. Still Baumgartner on the table. Aggressive Offseason and winter meetings we have here

If ........is the huge question but maturing and getting better is no natural process. It requires hard work,skilled implementation of required techniques/analytics, more practice. Just been a slow process.

No argument re upside of Mazara. Bill James sure liked him.

last 2 winter meetings were pretty slow right?

a solid hitter, has the chance to be really good. Like most young hitters, he is inconsistent and struggles making adjustments. If he figures it out he will be an all star.

I still think he's a quality pitcher, would rather have him and Rendon, especially rather have him over Wheeler, career 3.53 ERA on the road versus 2.72 at home, yes he's better better at home but he hardly "sucks hard away from San Fran,

Also 3.70 ERA versus the AL, I can live with that

Seems like Rangers won the trade getting the Sox’ #8 prospect. Mazara couldn’t even hit 20 damn HRs in that Arlington bandbox?
