Yeah, I figure aTm will fight it tooth-and-nail. SEC been very very good to Aggies.
A lot of us are just fine with the idea of never playing tu again

Could this be the beginning of something? Another wave of movement in College Football.

I know there has been a lot of talk about a 12-team playoff, and/or 6 or 8 team playoff;
Do the schools and coaches know something we don't know?
Are they discussing Conf Champs, all of them being given a berth in a playoff?
How would joining the SEC benefit OU and Texas?
Why would the two marquee names of the Big12 bolt to a league with a list of Marquee teams?
Isn't there a rule or law in Oklahoma that Oklahoma can't bolt a league with taking Okla St with them?
Is there going to be a split in the FBS/NCAA? (You could make two pretty good 8-team leagues
out of Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Miss St, LSU and Texas AM in one league
and Bama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, So Car, Tenn, Kentucky and Vandy in another league)

I don't know if the report is true, but I'd like to see those questions answered.

Yeah, I read about this on the other...uh, parts of the internet.

Doubt it happens, but Oklahoma should stay put. They'll never sniff the playoffs again in the SEC
This is the dumbest statement in the history of this site. Congrats.

It’s a given that OU is out of the big 12 after 2023. Multiple reasons but one is fans and powers that be are sick of constantly being picked to play 11 am starts. OU comes into the SEC as the solid #2 tram and once in the league will recruit with anyone and everyone. That is actually already happening.

See? There's one right now
Sorry but you can’t name another team that is above OU and I’m talking right now, being in the league makes it even more so. Don’t forget we are headed to a 12 team playoff either.

I think the B1G may go after the remaining teams, further watering down their gene pool, yet expanding their TV market.

Nah, you guys have just played in a lousy conference for a hundred years. You haven't had Mississippi's and Vanderbilt's on the schedule

When the dust eventually settles, nobody will want Baylor, Tech, TCU or Kansas State. They may not even want Kansas or West Virginia.

Word is A&M leaked this to try to kill the momentum. It’s going to happen.

it would not be the offseason without some reporter claiming inside knowledge that "Texas or Oklahoma" is moving somewhere.
Every single offseason it happens.

Zero sourcing on the record + denial by every single AD = 10K more twitter followers for the reporter who broke the story
Repeat again in 2022,2023,2024

These stories will always pop up like clockwork in late July and August.
Texas has played parts of the last 10 years in the PAC-16, PAC-14, ACC, Big 16, Big 10+4, independent, and now apparently the SEC.
We will get the obligatory follow up stories about UCF, BYU, Cincinnati, Boise, and/or Memphis in talks to join the Big 12.

There is literally zero downsides for a reporter to generate extra clicks and twitter followers by posting crap like this every year.
And if the Broken clock is right just one time, that reporter will be an insufferable asshat.
Fair points but I wouldn’t call “We will not address rumors or speculation” an outright denial statement. No where in any statement from UT or OU did they say “false”.

I still don’t see how this happens with the Longhorn Network as a entity unless the WWL compensates Texas to make it go away. But this thing has a few more teeth than the past rumors that makes a simple dismissal unlikely for the next few days.

Well, maybe we get a re-branded Big 8 or merge in a Boise State, football power North Dakota State, Utah State & Colorado State for a real Big 12??

The A&M athletic director sounds like a crying little girl, it’s funny. No way the SEC will turn down a blueblood and a semi blue blood.

I see what you're saying, and it might be silly off-season stuff. But this from the Houston Chronicle, not Longhorn McGee at a 'horns fan site.
Trust me this is real, it’s all over the news in OKC. It’s basically done already.

Reported in Houston Chronicle first:

Would def need to be a geographic re-alignment of the divisions. It would be a blockbuster move from hell.
