Yeah, I think that is how they play it. When you have the tag at your disposal you should use it and be more patient. This Offense needs to figure out exactly what it's issue is. IMO we need an entirely new Offense. Our plays just don't seem to set up other plays and our patterns against the zone don't seem to use player A to get player B open like other teams do. Everyone else seems to coordinate things to make defenders choose what to do. We seem to have four guys out in four independent patterns.
I think the offense's issues starts and stops with the coaching staff. There is plenty of talent on the team. Just to use one of your examples, for years teams around the league have been using pick/rub routes to get guys into the open field, and the Cowboys bother to try it almost never -- it's a problem. When the whole offense is predicated on our guys being better than their guys, that's a problem -- the coaching staff does very little to set receivers up for success in this offense. Saying 'go and beat your man" is not a coaching scheme, and that seems to be all that this coaching staff is about. So when our guys aren't winning their match ups the Cowboys routinely look like shit because the coaching staff doesn't have a clue when things aren't going "right".
