not gunna happen. it would be foolish for anyone to trade a legit puck-mover for the pick so they could take a guy a few years behind who they're trading away

only 'trade the pick' scenario i would do is possibly trade down from #1 to like #4.. pick up an extra second round pick, or a prospect to do so.. then you get an extra prospect plus you still get a stud, but you probably get a stud at F instead of D.. which helps sooner

sorry, but get the damn d-men we so badly need. They fucked up last year IMO with grabbing Laughton with their 1st pick.

way too early to tell if they fucked up. on paper it looks like they might have because they need dmen.

but if laughton pans out to be a quality 3rd line C and none of the dmen they were considering at the spot (maatta, and i cant remember who else) pan out, then they made the right pick

in the first round especially, it's important to get a player that makes a difference at the NHL level, regardless of position

i'd take jones w/ the 1st pick if they get it, i'm just saying, if you were considering trading the 1st overall pick for something (realistic), i would only do it to move down a couple spots.

This is exactly why i like proven players over picks like Weber. You already know what they can do with the picks you just never know if they are going to pan out.

oh ya, i think everyone does. but it gets to be a gray area when you talk about trading the pick. because you're not going to get a guy that is what you hope your draft pick turns out to be, because why would the other team do that?

you have to give up some potential in order to acquire the certainty. so when you have a pick that lets you draft 'the next shea weber', you can only trade it for matt carle (proven) or michael del zotto (in between potential and proven).

The real test is if you're rooting for the Penguins this Sunday.

If we were a lot closer to a guaranteed last place finish, then I would make an exception. But at this point, every loss is important. Hoping for a Niskanen 2nd period goal, Flyers lose 1-0.

I'm in real deep

Well boys we blow it again in style. The story of our season. This was predictible to go to penalty kill not just 1 down but a 5-3 at the end of the period. This is just not our year. Let's toast for the top pick.

I agree. Look at it this way, the way we lost tonight, would not surprise me to see us get blown out the next few games. That was a painful loss to the players. Now the bigger slump will start yet again.

We cant afford any more wins or OTLs. Every loss matters, as cynical as it sounds

I can see it now-Flyers will get 3rd pick,so no MacKinnon or Jones.

FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Drouin is gonna be a star to so any of the top 3 is fine with me. My worst case scenario is trying so hard to get 8th and just finishing out and fucking not getting a good pick. Kind of like tonight with loosing and still getting a fucking point.

yep. a top 3 pick is going to result in a stud. 4-10 will still result in a very good player too
