if the flyers draft in the top 4 they'll get a really special player. so they want to finish 27th at best if they're going to tank. (can only move down 1 slot)

I wish we could play NJ, Rags, Leafs, TB the rest of the way to secure the 1 spot.

just looking at some of the other teams that might draft down there.. colorado and buffalo would be wise to draft forwards i think, but florida and washington are looking for dmen

regardless, it seems all but certain that jones goes #1 at this point. regardless of who has the pick.

If we get the number 1 and select Jones he wont be ready for at least three years what do we do in the meantime.

good day all

nice to see that someone has mentioned this.

with most other teams, this would be the case, however, with the flyers it's not like he'll have a hard time beating out some of the slugs they call d-men.

if they draft jones i want him to spend another year in juniors. regardless of how many dmen on the flyers he's better than. he'll need all the confidence he can get before coming to philly where he will get ripped to shreds if he's not 100% ready to roll when he gets here

a year in juniors (please play juniors and not in college), possibly a year in the A, and then a year on the 3rd pair with limited minutes.. ease him in to it

Jones will be playing immediately with the big club IMO. I don't think it would be 3 years.

he probably will.. doesn't mean its the right course of action though

and even though he'll be on the big club, he'll probably start on the 3rd pair with limited minutes.. he wont have a big effect until 2 or 3 years down the road.. and will the flyers/flyers fans be patient enough with him for 2 or 3 years? i doubt it. not with WIP spewing their sewage to the masses

Possibly, but I think the Flyers would be stupid to rush him. It will help him and the team in the long run to be patient.

if we dont rush him we have to wait 2 to 3 more years for a solid puck moving defenseman which judging by this year another 3 years without seriously challenging for a cup. Maybe we trade the pick for weber over the summer.

not gunna happen. it would be foolish for anyone to trade a legit puck-mover for the pick so they could take a guy a few years behind who they're trading away

only 'trade the pick' scenario i would do is possibly trade down from #1 to like #4.. pick up an extra second round pick, or a prospect to do so.. then you get an extra prospect plus you still get a stud, but you probably get a stud at F instead of D.. which helps sooner
