I want Santini with selection 41 is this possible he's a good friend of mine's son.

for las:

28. Steven Santini, Defense, USA Under-18 (USHL)

Santini is a defenseman possessing several professional-level qualities. He is not a player who will wow you with a high level of skill, but he does have some impressive attributes. He is a good, if not a high-end skater, with good four-way bursts and nice technique on his pivots and footwork. His top speed helps him when joining the rush. Santini is strong for his age, and he displays physical qualities in muscling forwards off of the puck or delivering solid body checks. He defends very well, be it closing gaps, making stops with his body or stick, or positioning himself effectively. Santini's area of dispute lies in his offensive upside. He shows good abilities on the power play, but scouts have given me divided opinions on his puck moving, ranging anywhere from it being one of his best qualities to being just average. I tend to lean toward the latter, despite the occasional flashes of puck rushing Santini shows. One source praised his shot, although I am not as convinced that it is a strength. He is committed to attend Boston College in the fall.

The draft combine starts today. Looking at all the guys we can pick, I can tell you we're going to get an awesome prospect. It may not be who we want, but I don't think I will be hat disappointed regardless of who we pick come round 1.

clearly all the meltzer reading over the past few years has brainwashed me in to having the exact same opinons as him (regarding nurse)

HockeyBuzz.com - Bill Meltzer - Meltzer's Musings: Should Flyers Trade Up, Stand Pat or Trade Down?

interesting tid-bit:

As a matter of fact, the other day, I pulled out an old pre-2003 Draft scouting report on Coburn. It reads almost verbatim like the ones for Nurse right now, right down to the Pronger comparisons.

Portland Winter Hawks defenseman Braydon Coburn has scouts drooling over his rare combination of size, speed and grit. The towering blueliner is adept at shutting down other teams' top players and can join the rush to make plays. Some scouts have likened his game to St. Louis Blues defenseman Chris Pronger.

"Coburn is already very good and he has only just begun to tap into his potential," said a Western Conference scout. "That's a pretty scary thought. He's going to become a monster in the NHL."

Despite his 6-foot-5, 205-pound frame, Coburn's greatest asset is his speed and natural athleticism. He can log heavy-duty ice time against other teams' top players and shut them down. Already an aggressive physical player who racked up 145 penalty minutes this season, Coburn's mean streak should grow even further as he continues to add muscle to his lanky frame.

Coburn's offensive skills are not as advanced as his defensive game. Although he produced only three goals and 16 points this season, his offensive game is likely to develop over time. All the necessary tools are there.

"He is a very good passer, and he has a rocket of a shot," said the scout. "He improved a lot offensively in the past year, and I think he'll just get better and better."

If there is one knock on Coburn, it's that he sometimes tries to do too much with and without the puck. He needs to pick his spots better, but scouts believe that it is simply a matter of gaining experience.

"He is a mature young man and a hard worker," said the scout. "It's just a matter of Braydon figuring out what works for him and going from there."

ISS Draft Rankings (Final 2013)

Updated again players shifting Jones drops.

mackinnon was a beast in the memorial cup.. somethin like 7 goals and 14 points in 4 games.. he's going to be a dynamite player.. i really dont know if you can pass on him if you're the avs.. they've been touting him as 'the next crosby' since he was 14. i think the only reason people have had jones at the top is because mackinnon is 'old news'

I agree. I think the Avs will probably take Jones because of the story. He learned the game in Colorado etc.. etc..

MacKinnon is like Tavares & Couturier in that like you said he's been around so long that his game has been nitpicked. MacKinnon & Huberdeau are going to be kicking butt in Florida in all likelyhood.

@RenLavoieRDS: Patrick Roy told Joe Sakic today that the team needs to study the possibility of trading the team first round pick in a month. #RDS

@adater: It's a very real possibility Avs might trade No. 1 pick, or try to trade to get top two picks. Gonna be interesting

My Jones dream is still alive.
Unlikely? Extremely
Dead? Not with Paul Holmgren as our GM

couturier and the 11th pick might be able to get it done.

definitely not worth it. it's almost never worth it to move up that far in the draft.

Really? I think that would be a low ball offer i would think they would be looking for to proven players at the very least.

I hope we stay pat and just take the best player available at 11. Pretty much the Flyers philosophy all these years. Gusty may be the diamond in the rough we've been hoping for as far as a solid dman. It seems he has taking his game up a notch and he is still very young. I think he's only going to get a lot better. I'm more optimistic now than I was a month or two ago on this team moving forward.

couturier has top line center offensive potential with selke caliber defensive skill.. he's got more value that a lot of proven guys, and it's only to trade back 10 spots.

not all teams require 20 yr olds to light it up before they ship them out haha

i haven't seen that at all.. mcdonagh would be awesome though.. he must be RFA though because the hype if he were UFA would be ridiculous

edit: just checked out the rags on capgeek.. he is RFA, but they have 18 mil in cap space going in to next season and only need 2 dmen and 2 fourth liners.. plus they may buyout richards' 6.6.. no way mcdonagh doesn't get re-signed

Im pretty sure we stand pat as per usual but its nice to dream. Gust had a really nice end of the season as did "our Laurd and savior". If only Mezz can stay on the ice and Coburn lives up to his scouting report that AWAZ provided we may be fine
