I've never been so blasé about a Penguins playoff loss. I guess that summarizes my enthusiasm for this iteration of the team. And yet, they gave me hope, keeping it close, but I just don't know where the goals are going to come from.

I only saw from the late 2nd on but thought Fleury looked very good. If he can continue the series may be more difficult than expected.

A slow start killed the Pens. If they can fix that and spread the pressure on the Rangers across three periods I don't see any reason we won't have a good series on our hands.

The thing is, that has been the modus operandi for the Pens most of the season. Either get off to a slow start and not be able to recover, or get off to a fast start and a decent early lead, and then squander it.

I came into this series with the thought that the Pens would lose in 5 and nothing has changed my thinking. The fact is the Pens are beat up right now with 3 of their top D men out of the lineup. Paul Martin while healthy has checked out and looks like he is ready to hit free agency. The Pens have no skill depth past Crosby, Malkin, Hornqvist, and occasionally Perron and are a team built up with bottom 6 grinders and agitators but not much else.

Unless they play a near perfect game, find a way to score more goals, and stay out of the penalty box they may lose this series in 4 games. Don't let the score fool you the Rangers were not firing on all cylinders last night yet still found a way beat the Pens. This offseason much more changes are needed.

Pens look good to start, possessing the puck. They need to get something on Lundqvist, though.

I really WANT to be able to count on Fleury. It wasn't a one-timer. He had plenty of time to square up.
