I starting to think that Abreu is gone and Hicks is taking his spot as #3/#4 Util Inf player.

Arias is #1, no competition. EA has already all but secured his spot as the #2, and potential opening day starter (with Craw) in the mid inf. Abreu has done NOTHING this spring, and has a history of injury/inconsistency. Hicks has had a solid spring and is two years younger than Abreu.

Hicks could make it if Scoots opens on the DL. Hicks needed to pass Noonan this spring and get into the mix at Fresno. He may have overachieved.

Noonan did nothing last year to force his way into the convo and nothing this spring to force his way. Although, I would rather see Noonan get consistent PT in Fresno than get splinters in SF.

My main point is about Abreu, though. The dude has hardly played this ST, and when he has, no one noticed.

Surprised about Berken and De Paula. I thought they had each earned longer looks in the main camp. Not surprised about any if the others (maybe Susac, slightly, but he is 4 in the depth chart, so I guess that s OK).

Just got back from the game in Surprise. A couple of quick thoughts:

1. Vogey looked shaky but got the job done
2. One word: Susac!!
3. Two very nice plays by Panda and one by Dominguez at the hot corner.
4. DePaula was just awful
5. Law is special
6. Fielder is FAT
7. Panda is NOT

Going to non Giant games tomorrow and Saturday...then back to Scottsdale stadium on Sunday.

From what I saw in my five Giants games last week, Susac looked very good with the bat. And we have some very capable young or reclamation project relievers. A lot of those guys throw very hard, into the mid-90's. No stadium I attended was posting the pitch speed, probably because it so early in Spring Training. So I had to use my slide rule and sextant to calculate pitch speed.

Just noticed a familiar face is back in the organization, Darren Ford. Naturally, he stole a base in his game today.

Dang it, Mays-Fan! The desert must have disrupted my spelling skillz. Though tzill probably would approve of the typo, in a metaphorical sense.

Well, I saw him go yard in Surprise on Thurs night, and I'm going to the game against the Tribe in Scottsdale today...

Bolded are the locks, IMO. 2 more relievers; one more infielder; one more outfielder.

My guess: Machi, Law, Adrianza, Perez.

Unless Scoots goes on the DL, then Hicks will also make it.

I haven't heard that Tobin was released/reassigned. Anybody have anything on him?

I think Adrianza is a LOCK. It's between Hicks and Abreu now, but I haven't seen anything from Abreu lately, and Hicks is making a great case. Playing 3 IF positions (2B, 3B, SS), hits for some pop. He was chatty with the fans on the sidelines. Seems confident.

Petit and Huff is another battle, Petit has the edge but both guys are throwing well. That'll go down to the final few days.

Perez and Colvin is the other position battle. Perez hot a bomb today, he had some great ABs. He missed a catch, but it was a sliding grab so nothing easy. Still, he had it in his glove but dropped it.

Finally, the last 2 bullpen spots. Anyone's guess who gets it, but Law has lasted past all the cuts so far, even longer than Hembree. Bodes well for him.
