Yeah, none of that changes the fact that OSU is a more storied program than Nebraska according to actual facts and not an anonymous online message board poll vote. That was my original point. Even though Oklahoma is clearly more storied, it's no guarantee they win the vote because people vote for different reasons.
Cool.

Make a thread about it.

Thanks.

I actually voted Ohio State over Nebraska, so I can see your issues in that vote. That one was pretty debatable. You are just wrong trying to say OSU is more storied than OU. Move on

As has been stated multiple times. The Big 10/Notre Dame fans put more weight in pre-1950 where the majority of everyone else see's more value in post 1950.

Both programs started playing in 1890

Wins from 1890 - 1950

t8) Ohio St - 328 (That's a 3 way tie with Navy and Pittsburgh)
11) Nebraska - 326

Ohio St (+2)

Wins from 1950 - Present

2) Nebraska - 554
3) Ohio St - 541

Nebraska (+13)

Keep in mind Nebraska's program was in the toilet in the 1940's and 1950's. The last 10 years of the first period (1941-1950) and the first 10 years of the 2nd period (1950-1960).
They were good from 1890 to 1940 and then good again from 1962 - present.

Not Nebraska's fault you failed to sell your program. Maybe you expected others to do it for you. :noidea:
Hell, I had to point out your stellar band.
Ohio St lost, it's over. Keep moaning. Huskers rule.

First off, I disagree with what has been done with this thread. Should have been kept about Oklahoma and Nebraska. However, there is one thing you are missing from all the facts you presented that I felt obligated to point out. Total games Nebraska-1275. Total games Ohio State-1221

"I disagree with the Ohio St talk in this thread, but I'm going to talk about Ohio St" lulz.

Your total games for Ohio St is wrong anyway. They have 1235.

Nebraska has played in 6 more bowls, 6 more CCG's, a good number of Kick-off Classics. So a lot of those extra games were big games.

Not sure why but the Big 10 seems to have played a minimum of 1 less game in the 60's and early 70's?

1972 Nebraska (9-2-1)
1972 Ohio St (9-2)

1971 Nebraska (13-0)
1971 Ohio St (6-4)

1970 Nebraska (11-0-1)
1970 Ohio St (9-1)

1969 Nebraska (9-2)
1969 Ohio St (8-1)

etc....

Just pointing out the fact that Nebraska has 40 more games (bad source on my original number) to get those 11 more wins, that's all. Anyway, good luck on the next match up. Looking like it might be Nebraska/Ohio State in the fifth place match up later on and I doubt much changes. First vote ended up being pretty lopsided. Oklahoma/Notre Dame is going to get very interesting.

Why would there be an Ohio St/Nebraska rematch?

Nebraska will go up against Alabama according to the OP.

Winner faces Notre Dame in the Championship.
Loser will face the winner of Alabama vs Tennessee in Consolation Semifinals.

Ohio St likely goes up against USC. We all know the outcome of that.

I said might be a rematch. Nebraska would have to lose to Bama (possible) and Ohio State will lose to USC.

Nebraska has already beaten Ohio St. Enjoy 6th place.

You mean like OSU being behind in NC? (please dont try to claim 1970)
Appearing in less AP polls since 1936?
OSU having a LOSING bowl record (21-24)?
OU having a 28-19-1 record

Are those the facts you are talking about?
Are you going to say Conference championships? Are you going to mention 14 of OSU's are Co-champs?

Behind in NC? Even if we don't claim 1970 (which the NCAA even claims for us), we're tied at 7.

LOL at 1936. OSU is #1 in weeks in the AP Poll all-time, but nice job trying to claim some arbitrary year. By the middle of the season, we'll have overtaken Oklahoma for all-time weeks at #1 as well.

Then there's the better all-time record, more wins, more All-Americans, more Heisman winners, more draft picks, more first rounders...

These facts.

Also, it's adorable seeing the hated rival stepping up to defend his bff. :pound:

I dont count 1970 or 1961. You either have a coaches poll or AP poll, during those times. Only Ohio State claims non-AP and Coaches polls in modern times

Whats arbitrary about claiming rankings in the AP poll since its inception?

Glad you had more players receiving honors, but I was measuring the team and its accomplishments. You can have more All-Americans and still finish behind OU. You can have more All-Americans and still lose the majority of our bowl games. Only thing that shows is OSU has done less with more as a program.

Oh, so you don't count those two, even though the NCAA does? Well that's convenient.

If the AP Poll has only been around since 1936, then what you said was incorrect. OSU currently is 1st all-time in AP poll appearances with 838, while Oklahoma has 767.

Glad you ignore everything else I pointed out about more wins, a better overall record, as well.

So, you've decided to discredit some of OSU's accomplishments because you want to, you lied about another one, and you're ignoring others. Man, you really make a compelling argument.

Oh, so you don't count those two, even though the NCAA does? Well that's convenient.- I use AP and Coaches poll. I think most fans would agree on that. It one thing to use an odd poll in 1919, quite another in 1970. That is just weak

Not one lie. Sorry if the rest of the world has standards. OU has more weeks at #1 - fact. I did love you calling inception as arbitrary, that was classy. No comment on the fact that OSU loses Bowl games the majority of the time?

Ohio State's 54 and 57 split titles are poop.

OU even shared a common opponent (Cal) with Ohio State in 1954 and OU beat them worse and it was an away game while Ohio State's was @ home.

1957 was even worse, 9-1 Ohio State awarded a coaches title over 10-0 Auburn (won AP) after losing to unranked TCU.

I'd like to go on record and say Oklahoma smokes Ohio State in 1954 and 1957.
