Spider-Man: Spider-Verse 2: Across the Spider-Verse (2023)

The sequel to the animated theatrical release Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is currently slated to be released on Friday, October 7, 2022 Friday, June 2, 2023.

Though no title has been officially confirmed by the studio, the LinkedIn profile of character effects supervisor Simon Corbaux has possibly accidentally leaked the title as Across the Spider-Verse.

I'm impressed that I've been able to dodge all of the trailers for this. Even looking at the snapshots, its just so more visually interesting than Little Mermaid its serves as a pretty easy 'do this, not that' when they're released so close together.

It'll be interesting to see if they actually build a relationship in this movie between the main characters. After Guardians 3 and No Way Home I think it would be a good change of pace.

Personally I thought the first Spider-verse movie peaked at the Doc Octopus scene and the last act was just kinda mid. I know most people love the first movie. I'm kinda hoping the sequel will be that movie for me.

The first movie is still better to me but this was still amazingly good. If the first was a 9.8 this was a 9.5, the art style won’t be for everyone but damn it was gorgeous. Also I loved seeing a bit more of Gwen this move as she is definitely main character #2 and we didn’t get much of anything about her in the first one beyond some basic back story.

Somehow, I had completely forgotten that this was originally titled "Across The Spider-Verse Part 1" and the Part 1 part got dropped early on. So the ending of this movie completely floored me along with several other people in the audience. I didn't mind it, but there was some audible "wtf...". I don't think anyone was actually pissed but its still kind of wild.

Great movie. Just as good as the first. I'm gonna have to rewatch this multiple times to catch all the details. At times the movie is moving so fast I wanted to slow it down half speed just so I can catch everything.

yea the timeline is strange to think about in each universe... so i dont even think about it...

i agree that this movie was great... upset about the wait for the NEXT one... But i guess KNOWING that there will be a third, the cliffhanger is not a big deal...


my biggest question though is

if Miles never was supposed to be spider man, then why does his dad HAVE to die?? the point was that all spiderpeople must lose someone important to them, often a captain... but i dont see why it is necessary for a never should have

That's the thing though. He doesn't have to. I think that's what the story is getting at and will be resolved in the next one. The canon events don't have to happen. Miguel is trying to ensure they do because it happened to him and therefore every Spider-man has to experience the same pain

idk... cant believe that it will just be an easy solution that Miguel is just WRONG.... it would make more sense if he is correct, but Miles overcomes something to allow canon not to take its natural path... still think that that is probably the biggest plot hole in the movie... but the movie was just so good, that we are just accepting it!!!

Went in expecting to be disappointed because of all the hype. I was not though. It was great.

Definitely better than the first one I think.
