Will the Yanks make up some ground on the upcoming extended home stand? They play the next 10 at home vs. the O's Royals and Twinkies. Then the all-star break.

Any news on Jeter and/or Granderson?

We're second in the division in runs scored and basically worst in runs allowed (Rockies have allowed 5 more at Coors, meaning we're much worse). We need a solid starter and for Quentin to stay hot.

That said, I love this team and with the sole exception of Huston Street there's not a single guy that fans don't really like. Huston Street has never been embraced because he's taking our $7M and losing games, all while doing everything in his power to make it obvious that he just doesn't care one bit what fans, teammates or management thinks.

You're 3rd in the division superfan, and that's in large part due to the difference in games played..

They're 22nd in R/G, 23rd in OPS, about the same ranking in ERA...bats are cheaper to come by than arms...a couple of quality OF/corner IF bats would go a long way on that team...

Possibly...Sox are going out west for 10 games...6-4 is my expectation level....

Giants players are much like their fans.

Fags.

I can deal with Cardinals and Yankees fans all day and in general, respect them. Giants and Angels fans are a pox on the behind of baseball. The arrogance is infinite.

I tweeted this and it got picked up and retweeted by a well-know Padres blog.

The Giants headhunting Guzman for flipping his bat was the height of shamelessness.

Rondo now owns that team, or what's left of it.

This Stevens kid will be at Austin Peay by this time next year, happy to have a job.

2 title game appearances and 166 wins in 6 seasons suggest otherwise.

It was a shrewd hire, and he was very smart to accept.

Win/win for Stevens, even if they lose a lot.

Yep...even if they tank the next couple of seasons to get a couple high lotto picks, and then once they have that talent, if they decide to go with a more experienced and older coach, he gets a shit ton of money, and that has his choice of the best college opening int he country.

Good college coach doesn't always (and maybe not even usually) translate into being a good pro coach. See, e.g., Rick Pitino, John Calipari, Tim Floyd, etc.

This guy is going from a mid major conference to the pros. Kids go to Butler because they are good, but not good enough to get recruited by Kentucky, Kansas, Duke, UNC, OSU etc. Now even though he's going to have a bad news bears type of team, he's got to learn to deal with the "professional" mentality. Not optimistic.

why you don't celebrate the 4th of July by firing guns straight up in the air...

But when the child was taken to the hospital, doctors made a startling discovery.
“When medical personnel were treating him, they found what they believe to be a bullet wound in the top of his head,” Badgerow said.
Police said it is unlikely that the shot was intentionally fired at the boy, and that the bullet likely came from a gun fired off the premises.
“We don’t think this was an intentional shooting. We think that somebody in or around the Brandermill area was celebrating the Fourth of July. Unfortunately we think they were shooting a gun in a reckless manner and this young boy is a victim,” Badgerow said.
Police asked anyone who was firing a gun or knew of someone firing a gun within fives miles of Swift Creek Reservoir to call Chesterfield County Police Department at 804-748-1251 or Crime Solvers at 804-748-0660.
“This is a terrible situation. We want to reach out to the public to appeal to everybody who may have any information on this at all,” Badgerow said. “Put yourself in the family’s shoes and think about how terrible it is that they are going through this tragedy and reach out to us so we can help them.”

Per Arod:

I want to compete. I want to stay in New York. I refuse to quit. Maybe it's stupidity, I don't know, but I'm wired to compete and give my best. I have a responsibility to be ready to play as soon as I can.

Or...

"I'm not retiring, I'm not waiving my no trade unless I get my bonus money guaranteed...in short, I'm not going anywhere...and you're gonna pay me to suck ass"
