As for Jrue, he is gone very soon so unless they get a haul for him then Portland in 3 yrs from now will see they chose the wrong deal.

Multiple first round picks (miami offer) is much better than a single pick that they got from Milwaukee. By going with this deal, it shows me they prefer mediocre instead of going full rebuild

They have their big rebuild piece in Scoot. They need pieces around him to let him grow, not a bunch of expiring salaries to waste another year or two for the franchise and Scoot.

Those Heat picks would've been 5-7 years into the future, which would skip a complete rebuild process and Scoot could be looking to move on by then. Jrue is an easily tradeable asset (there will be considerable interest IMO) that can bring back younger pieces and picks as well.

Since that time, I can't even remember the amount of conference finals Miami's been to, and has also been in two NBA finals.
