I don't know anything about the banners here but maybe since Steve had helped with the banners, maybe someone could figure a way to honor him in the NHL main banner? Or the Buffalo Sabres banner?(if there is one?)

If there ever was a SportsHoopla Hall of Fame.....he should be the 1st on the list in the NHL boards.

This is not an isolated incident, either. I'm sure most of us have experienced Steve reaching out in a similar fashion at one point or another.

Back in the rep power days he would give me reps every so often and would always send me PMs saying how he doesn't understand why my rep power was so low compared to others on here, and that it should be much higher. I told him that I usually don 't think to dish it out often either so I wasn't too worried about it but appreciated it. He seemed legitimately concerned about my low rep power and how it might make me feel.

I remember when we first came over here to the Hoop from the ESPN boards...we were all refugees that wanted to get away from the riff-raff that was the ESPN Swamp. Postmaster and I led the charge with the help of SFNL and Ghost setting up our new home...yet when it came time to decide who would be the mods at our new home, Bossman was the overwhelming unanimous vote-getter. Even in the mucky arena that was the ESPN message boards, Boss had earned the respect of all he had interacted with.

Steve was both the reason I came here, and the reason I stayed. Had a bunch of conversations with him off board, like most of us did, and considered him a true friend. Just hurts.

I was looking forward to meeting him this summer over some wings if/when my daughter moves in to Rochester. Guess the meet will have to wait.

I think we will all miss Bossman a whole lot. Olympics are just around the corner and I remember how into it Steve got with team USA in 2010 on here. Just won't be the same.
