.... The team was also hopeful linebacker Leighton Vander Esch could rejoin the defense, but that is now highly unlikely as a second neck surgery may be in his future.
Hate it for the kid. He’s worked his ass off and you want him to be rewarded for it… but sometimes the body has different ideas.

Big fan of LVE. I think retirement might be a good idea. I think the Cowboys have a superstar in the making in Overshown coming back next season

He had heart. Hope he retires and enjoy life. He has not been good for while. I just hope they stop drafting players with a history of injuries in college. 6th or 7th round take a chance. Not in 1st second rounds. I was not happy with the pick, but was impressed with him his first two years here.

rumor in the local papers covering the panthers is he was picked by the owner.probably does,nt know shit about football players other than they get lots of money.

I think a lot of experts had it that way too. All I know is as each week goes by, it seems pretty clear which one is better.

I thought Stroud would be far better. Name the midget QB that has really worked out? Lamar Jackson is easily the best and hid own team didn't want to pay him.

Luckily they have Clark and Bell. It has lessened the sting a bit . Both these 2nd year guys are impressing me. The tackle by Bell on Goedert was a great tackle. That stiff arm to Bells face was costly

I would give it a little more time. Im not saying he will be better than Stroud. I just dont think he has enough around him right now. QB play is down all over the league IMO. Before he got hurt, Cousins was playing as well as anyone. Lawrence, Allen , Burrow all have been down some this year. Herbert seems hit or miss as well. Hurts is turning the ball over more than he has. LJ - who lnows what he is going to do week to week. Dak has played as well as anyone and better than most. I think Young will be fine as well as Levis.

Of course. There are no guarantees and no one is saying otherwise. No one is crowning one a Hall of Famer and one a bust. that doesn’t mean we cant discuss it in the interim. Heck many make up their minds before a guy even steps on an NFL practice field. Look at this board after draft day every year.

There is another one Youngs size that the Saints drafted in the 4rth round. He may be a little taller. Jake Haener. He was a bad dude in college, but college doesnt always translate. Maybe it is a height thing with Young. If you asked Saban who he is taking between his last 4 QBs before this year - i would bet a lot he would take Young.

And down goes Burrow. That didnt look good. Injuries continue to mount in the NFL and I hate it for the league. With that being said, Al Michaels has mentioned a couple of times tonight about banning something called a hip tackle. What are these defenders going to be allowed to do in 5 years. I saw an Off. Tackle basically laying on a DE last week and the DE grabs the QB and gets flagged for hitting him low. QB got the ball off and everything. Just ridiculous.

They go over the top to protect the QB's, but the truth is, the players have gotten so big and strong and fast in the NFL, that it's just about impossible. 17 games of taking shots from 250-350 pound men in full pads...it can't be helped

The hip tackle is what hurt Pollard in the SF playoff game

i miss the just get um on the ground days.
I do too. But Randy White was a HOF DT playing at 265. I think the kids are so big and strong now, rules like the horse collar make a lot of sense. And as much as I hate a roughing flag every time a QB is touched, reality is QB's are bigger now than ever before and half the league is still playing with their 2nd or 3rd stringer this week
