remember when LeBron was crying when he had to play on the day of the super bowl......

These guys fly in custom built planes. Don't deal with 'normal' airport nonsense.
Stay in luxury suites in luxury hotels.
Have the best trainers and equipment.

Like you said, back in the day it was much harder on the players.
These guys should just STFU and play.

I see this is a gross mischaracterization. Nobody is "crying". Nobody is saying they don't have it good enough. Nobody is saying that life as an NBA player is just too hard.

A few players have just said - when asked - that they think the NBA should shorten its season. Has nothing to do with the quality of employment of an NBA player.

Then they need to learn how to answer such questions so that they don't come off like they're crying. How about saying, no the season shouldn't be shortened? Or, if they really want to be honest, say "No, because it would mean less income for teams and less money for players"?

The article I saw was on CBS sports, and I never saw where he was answering a question.

That's journalism at its best for you.

The quotes in that article and every other article were given before the Cavs preseason game vs the Bucks. Reporters asked LeBron what he thought about the NBA testing out 44-minute games in the preseason.

Its not like players go around asking to give quotes about things on their mind.

dirk also mentioned that the time outs at the end of the game just draw it out and we need to find a way to eliminate them

I think the nba is fine. 2 & half hour is fine when you compare it to mlb & nfl

I agree with Dirk on this, but not the season length. Stop the games from bogging down in the end, but don't take our games away!

Teams should be limited to 2 timeouts in the final 2 minutes. 1 full & 1 20 second time out

Shortening games is idiotic. Unless you are doing it TO's wise. It doesn't need to lower from 48 minutes though.

I'd be all for them shortening the season though. Its lame anyways. Playoffs are the only entertainment.

So are the intentional fouls when a team is down 10 with a minute to go, hoping the opponent will miss a bunch of FT's, but unfortunately there's no rule against it.

Maybe if a team commits 10+ in a qtr the opponent gets 3 shots ( or 4 if fouled shooting a 3)?

people who bring up hockey is a good point, the physical toll of playing hockey is significantly greater than basketball.

IF, and that is an IF, they were to change anything my preference would be to make it a 76 game season, and start the season one week earlier. 4 games vs your division, 3 vs rest of conference, 2 vs each out of conference opponent. Eliminating eliminating 6 games and adding a week opens up about 17 extra days of rest, (about 3 a month). That should be plenty.

To me, making the game 44 minutes has absolutely NO effect on players wearing down. LeBron will just be playing 36 of 44 minutes instead of 36 of 48. The players it would give more bench time to are the role players, most of whom want MORE playing time. The fact is, the guys that would benefit from a shorter game, aren't the guys who will have their playing time reduced because of it. Only the role players minutes would suffer.

I agree but fixing the foul situation would be a lot harder than the timeout situation. sadly commercials make the league too much money to change it. I have to have another sporting event going on to enjoy watching a ftball or basketball game.

Only way to watch NFL for me now is Red Zone channel.
Very easy to do since I am a fan of no team.
Never a commercial. Always action.

Red zone is great. I have the saints on the laptop with the tv on red zone unless the giants or jets game is good

And when Jordan cried about repeatedly getting fouled to hard by the Pistons then shortly after Stern came up with the flagrant foul rule?

60 games like Dirk suggested is too many to take away. Besides a lot of players sit out (or play reduced mins) the final 5 or so games of the season when their playoff seed can't be changed.

Good luck getting owners to agree on taking away 8 home games at least.

It's not gonna happen. There is just too much money involved including a massive new TV deal.

Wah, I play a sport for a living and get tired. Well, no shit. Your job consists of a physical activity. Get a desk job if you don't want to get tired.
