It's funny. I picked this match up before the season but thought the Pats were dead in the water after a month or so into the season. In fact there's a thread buried here from earlier in the season asking whether it's over for the Pats. I posted that I thought so. I always thought the Hawks would get it together and make the playoffs, though. It should be a great game... but I thought it would be last year too.

I thought a lot of this was media driven. Unless you're a brand new NFL fan, you don't typically assume teams are done in mid October. That said, if ESPN reports it, I read the opinion regurgitated here as if it's a fact by dozens of posters.

When New England was supposedly done after the Kansas City game, I thought that was particularly amusing. Seemed like some folks were a little to desperate to proclaim the Pats had one foot in the grave. So much for that.

I actually like the matchup in the sense that it figures to be a game between the two "best" teams, in my opinion. Just don't know if even holding my nose will enable me to root for one of them!

As long as TB is the QB, NE in the AFCE can pretty much be inked into the playoffs every year...getting to this point after the beatdown they took from KC...I didn't quite see that coming.

Goes to show that the 16 game regular season is near perfect.

This game shapes up to be a good one...certainly one of the best HC/QBs in the business in BB and TB vs the best DEF of the last decade.
