The only whiner I see is the one flipping out and writing extra long posts trying to convince everyone that it was à well officiated game.

The rest of us are just laughing.

Now explain to all of us how the Packers got jobbed, please. And do so with equal enthusiam with which you whine when calls go against you.[/QUOTE]

Yeah the Pack was jobbed, so were the seahawks. Remember Lindsey asking coach Carrol to apologize? For what?
The fans needed a call to force the NFL to pay the refs. This was it and seattle was made to feel like they raped some girl who said no! It wasn't our fault that one ref was waving TD while another was signaling no catch. And the bottom line is that call had no affect on the seasons or play offs for either team.

To be sorta fair to the refs, the overloading of the line penalty I believe is a new one just put into affect this year. I can see how they can miss that one.

However, the officiating overall in the NFL is at an all time low and, in my opinion, part of the problem is they have put so much emphasis on officials to call all these hard hits and look for anything that might resemble a safety violation that they losing focus on the basics of officiating and, as a result, losing their ability to do their job.

I disagree. Ron Winter earlier this year flagged Seattle for 12 men in the huddle when they clearly had 11. I realize that mental retardation is a requirement for NFL officials, but they should be able to count.

Agree 100% with officiating being at an all time low. These guys are no better than the replacement refs.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Coach Andy Reid said he noticed at the time that the San Diego Chargers lined up improperly on Ryan Succop’ s 41-yard field goal attempt in the final seconds of the fourth quarter of Sunday’s overtime loss to the Chargers.

“You saw I called a time out there,’’ Reid said Monday. “That was for a reason. I saw it. I couldn’t challenge. I had a timeout so I called it so maybe they could take a peek.

“Listen, [it was] human error.’’

With four seconds left in the game and the score tied at 24, Succop missed the field goal attempt. But the Chargers lined up seven players on the right side of the ball on the kick, a violation of NFL rules.

The Chargers should have been penalized 5 yards and Succop should have been allowed to try another kick, this one from 36 yards.

But the officials failed to notice. The Chiefs couldn’t request a video review at that point in the game so Reid called the timeout in the hope that the officials would figure it out.

They didn’t. The Chiefs weren’t the ones who paid the price. The Pittsburgh Steelers did. They would have made the playoffs instead of the Chargers had the Chiefs won the game.

The league needs to fix the problem. It’s never a good situation when a coach sees a violation that the officials miss, but can’t do anything about it.

Sorry guys, but I have to disagree with everyone who said the Steelers didn't belong in the playoffs. First of all, the Ravens and Dolphins both blew their chances. Second, the Steelers did what they had to do when they had to do it, 0-4 doesn't mean anything! The fact they could sniff the playoffs after 0-4 is remarkable. The Chargers couldn't take care of a 2nd tier Chiefs' team without major help.

So I say, out of the 4 teams in the WC hunt this last weekend, the Steelers deserve to be in the most. The fact they crawled back from a terrible September is even more of a reason they deserve to be in, IMO...

...also, I don't give a sweet fuck either, as you can see, I'm a Bills fan who hasn't sniffed the playoffs in 14 years, but I wanted to give my unbiased opinion here... and yes, the 36 yarder would not have been a given, but it sucks that that's how the season goes down.

...and I also agree that the Steelers would give the Bengals a much tougher game this weekend, being a division rival and all.

..and finally, I definitely agree that the refs in general had their worst season, and it probably is due to the orders they've been given about safety... really embarrassing this year for the zebras.

:agree:

But I still think that if you need "help" from other teams to get into the playoffs then you don't really deserve it. This year was different because of all the upsets so it made the WC race interesting. I would say out of the teams competing for the 6th seed that the Steelers were the best.

Anyone have any footage of the fumble from an angle you can see the ball? The NFL highlights gloss right on over the whole thing so from the obscure angle you see, it looks like the helmet comes off before the strip

The ball was out but the refs ruled down and forward progress, something along those lines.

Imo it was way too early and convenient.

From my seat, I think that the Steelers needing three teams to lose, all who had better records, was really asking the football gods to pull too many strings. All three deserved to be in the playoffs before the Steelers. I'm not a black and gold hater, I'm a realist.
It's like all of the Packer haters out there complaining about the Packers getting in.......

How about this.....the 10 teams with the worst records get to play for the title and the winners go home??? If everything goes by record, the Broncos and Seahawks should be playing the last game. My gut tells me that neither will be playing in New York come February 2.

I've been patient with you guys but you just can't help yourselves. You have to keep whining about how SB XL was stolen from you.

I got news for you....you lost. I'll give you the blocking below the waist on your QB after the INT. That was a bad call.

Locklear held - get over it.

You didn't get jobbed, you got your asses kicked. You couldn't run for most of the game. You couldn't get in the endzone. You didn't manage the ball well - in fact you mismanged the ball at the end of the 2nd quarter and 4th quarter.

Truth?

Big Ben had NO business completing a 3rd and 27 to get down on the 3 yard line to even set up the TD dive.

More truth?

Your walrus of a HC had no business taking out his starting safety on the 2nd play of the 2nd half. His back up was out of position and Willie Parker broke one.

Locklear held - and admitted it. He said he was just trying to make up for Haggins being offsides. Thing is, Haggins wasn't offsides. But even if he was, it was offsetting penalties and was NEVER going to be a completion.

You lost because your HC never adjusted to how the game was being called - it's that simple.

PS...let me ask you...how did you feel about that call vs. the Packers last year?

You know....THIS one?

Now explain to all of us how the Packers got jobbed, please. And do so with equal enthusiam with which you whine when calls go against you.

Hey, Bill Levey admitted that he tanked the Seahawks so why is it so hard for you to do the same?
Four years later, Bill Leavy apologizes to Seahawks | ProFootballTalk

Yes, the Seahawks received a gratuitous call from the refs and beat Green Bay in a regular season game that meant nothing. I apologize to the Packers. (See how easy that was)

Oh well, the fact is that the Steelers didnt make the playoffs and I rejoice seeing my coworkers (I work in Pittsburgh) being miserable. I was at work when the Chiefs blew it and it was one of the greatest moments of my life. May more games like that come your way.

Stealer fans will never get it. Proof that homers can not watch a game without blinding bias. They have been a great organization with a long history. Maybe they should put up a billboard announcing all their trophies? Oh wait, somebody already did that.
They just need to give up expecting any sympathy when they cry about officiating. I liked what coach Tomlin said about not getting upset about something happening in a stadium when the stealers were not even there. He gets it.

I have no love for either team, but that had to be the worst Super Bowl ever. They were damned and determined to give Bettis a ring. It is fortunate that the officials did not deem it necessary to strike any Seahawks players with sticks or shoot them.

Yeah, my buddy, who's a Packer fan, apologized to me early in the 3rd quarter saying that they werent going to let the Seahawks win no matter how well they played. You'll have to forgive my bitterness, but thats a hard thing to get over.

Teams that start 0-4 and are 2-6 at the midway point..... don't get hosed when it comes to missing the playoffs

When you win your games doesn't matter. Panthers started 0-2, and are the 2 seed in the NFC. Bears started 3-0, and missed the playoffs.

Kinda reminds me of an olde cheer of my invention: "BEAT THEIR FACES WITH MACES!!!" I was never quite sure whether to follow that with "rah, rah rah" or "raw, raw raw."

Not sure why I bring this up, but the family did go out for sushi last night. Even had a lot of saki.
