Obviously this year is done with...

Maye has been a bright spot...

Does Kraft actually open up his checkbook in the offseason like he claimed he would do this season?

@BigKen

Why can't I actually type in a name anymore and it gets tagged? (I tried tagging a bunch of others - I am not asking you BigKen the question, just in general)

it isnt the purse thats the problem its the scouting dept :suds:

Well they did have Jonu Smith and he's doing pretty well in Miami...

Scouting department needs to be fired as well. Kraft also needs to open his checkbook though

The money is there and Kraft doesn't have complete control of it. Wolfe is sitting on $44M that will be rolled over to 2025 and added to the $132M that they will have available on March 13th. Wolfe and Jerrod will be looking at Free Agents and will have to be ready add 4% additional dollars for every million they offer. Or move the team 75 miles north to a much more attractive tax free state.

He is the owner, he has complete control over it. Will he actually let Wolfe and Co use it is the question

We have to hope Kraft can see there is something special about Maye. Kraft needs to buy him protection. This kid is going to be good. Spend Bobby spend. Adopt another son, Tommy has moved on.

He has put the people in position that makes the decisions, no?
Sure, but remember Mayo said, "You don't have to spend it all in one year" Maybe he and Wolfe wanted to leave room for this year's FA and contracts. It's like the family vacation where the kids have been saving all year and little Eddie spends all his cash day one and ruins his vacation. Monies have to be spread out and future considerations have to be made.

Yes I do remember saying that, just wondering if the check book actually gets opened or the turn to the ways of the Red Sox and say, "Hey we are in on everyone" and then don't make a real attempt at them.

Again I think it depends on who is there. There are two LTs each targeted to make 18mil one of them would be nice. I would not target a WR, I would go after a LT and CB to cover the #2 WR so I would not be willing to target the top tier CB between CB and LT that eats a lot of cap space. I think we all hope they are active but they have to be smart too.

That is why Kraft needs to step in and actually get the right people into the scouting department. Talent evaluation has been awful.. Looks like they might have hit on Maye though

If Kraft follows what he said and what Mayo has said, then there will be more than one voice expressing who should be signed and drafted. The OL has more than a LT problem. I think that RT is equally weak. They also need a fast, brutal edge guy like a Bosa or TJ Watt who's also fast. Spending is always a problem when it's not done correctly. I just don't want to see them spending top dollars for second tier talent.

Then again, every team will be looking at the same players that the Patriots will be looking at. Money is the big attraction. Being on a winning team is another. Patriots will have to spend to make up for the second one.

I'm with you on this. Less concerned about the edge. Barrmore is back and if he can return to his former self that opens up a lot of possibilities. Plus a quality DE will cost a boat load in FA.

Target OL, WR and DB in FA. That would be a dream come true.

OL with the first pick. Or might I even say RB Jeanty. I'm cautious using a 1st on the RB position but this kid is special and the two RBs behind Stevenson are close to useless at this point.

Then the rest of the draft is cake. Hope to find a couple starters.

One can hope right?

My way too early prediction is, I think Maye could be the 2nd best QB NE has ever had. Really enjoy watching him grow.

I would like to take Abdul Carter out of Penn State if we get a FA LT
