Here's a silly stat for you. Every time Cam Newton gives a football to a child in the stands, he is fined $5,512.00. To date he has a total of 253,552.00 in fines for this.

Inst it silly of the NFL to fine a player for building the sport and enriching the fan base like that?

I'm much more comfortable figuring momentum into predictions for playoffs in football. The one and done nature means momentum is more of a predictor than say hockey, where picking the hot team late in the season will get you out of a playoff pool real quick.

But sure, there's always exceptions.

Not sure I agree that they are the exception. The Seahawks for example lost 2 of the final 4 games of the regular season before they went on and won the Super Bowl. I already explained 2012 with the Ravens.

The Giants in 2011 went 3-5 to close out the season before winning the Super Bowl.

Green Bay went 3-3 to close out the season when they won in 2010. Honestly I'm starting to see more of a trend towards losses late in the season correlating more to Post Season success than I am of a team being on a hot streak entering the playoffs. Like I said sometimes those late season losses can really be the eye opener a team needs. Heck I saw it in my Broncos in 2012 where they had won 11 straight games by 7 or more points. No team entered the playoffs hotter that year. I think the lack of having to fight late in games though hurt them when they did find themselves in a close one in the playoffs and not knowing how to finish off an opponent.

To me come playoff time it is hard to really read much of anything into the regular season. We have seen for the first time in a long time two years in a row where both #1 seeds advanced to the Super Bowl. It had been quite a few years since that had happened.

This is actually very false. A player only gets fined if they throw the football into the stands not if they hand it to a fan.

Yes... I appreciate your ruse.

You didn't create this thread to talk about silly stats! You created it to brag about Wilson. You almost got me.

Well done. :thumb:
Maybe, you're right, but I see it more as poking Rock with a stick.

Yeah can't remember which big writer posted that on twitter but he got ripped apart very quickly about how wrong he was. So far the NFL hasn't quite gone to that level of stupid.

OK heres a good one. What QB has the highest QBR in the 4th quarter and best QBR outside of the pocket this year?

Sam Bradford.
