Guys gone after this year. Nats are no good. Should they trade Harper and get at least something for him?

Only 6 games out so I doubt they would but SHOULD they?

Hard to say, do they have zero intention of bringing him back? And his value has never been lower with the year he's having.

I think they'd love to have him back but financially it's just very unlikely. Its a deal hes having an off year but man I think this could be a blessing in disguise if it forces their hand on a trade. Im just not sure they've got the stomach to tell their fans they're packing it in

Yes. They should also rest Strasburg for next year. Or the year after.

Yeah.

But a corner outfielder hitting .220 isn't going to bring a helluva lot. Might not be worth pissing off fans.

Lol @ whatever team wins the sweepstakes in the offseason.

I'd say yes if he was definitely a goner

But the Nats are in a bad spot, his value is lower than ever, between being just a rental and a pretty bad baseball player, probably not a Top 100 player in the league this season

Flipside is the Nats may be able to keep him at a reasonable rate, cause the $400 million talk is now long gone

The nats would be better off without him. They have all that talent on their team and still come up short in October. Sometimes the problem isn't talent, it's the lack of leadership maybe.

Why trade a five time All-Star.

Then they need a new manager.

What a convincing argument.

Scherzer, Strasburg, Murphy, Werth, Zimmerman, Wieters etc...

The Nats have had loads of proven veterans over Harpers tenure.

Not sure how those fails all fall on him

And I strongly dislike the dbag

What about that manager before Dusty? It can't always be the manager. Tha nats have a guy that holds the team's image back, and that makes opponents want to beat them. Trading in Harper's power for a veteran leader is ideal. Someone that can bring that much needed encouragement to the team. It won't happen with Harper around.

That's the thing. Get rid of him, and maybe something happens. What do the other players on the nats think of him?

Btw, I don't consider Murphy the veteran I am talking about. I am talking about some wise type like a Pujols or a Lester. Lester certainly had a lot to do with the cubs winning the WS two years ago. He had a lot to do with Boston's 2013 WS. Pujols helped the cards in the 2011 comeback. Justin Turner is the veteran leader on the dodgers and they went to the WS last year and are a threat to go again(they will win the west). Those are the types of veterans a team like the nats need.

But he won the home run contest at the all star game. That should count for something.

How is Turner anymore of one than Murphy?

They have pretty much identical credentials.

Both are the same age. Really found their groove at roughly the same age. Both have been a part of a World Series run. Both have had great post seasons. Both are very good all around hitters. Both are true veterans in the league.

Wtf lol.

And again, why does it all fall on Harper? You’re saying get rid of him as if he’s holding back all these other vets. The Nats have been stacked with veteran leadership.

Still 6 games out of the playoffs.

Herrera on the DL now rotator cuff issues.

This was a time to be bold, one way or another.

Instead they went flat.
