Might be time to blow it up......new GM and coach may decide on a rebuild.....trade Ryan and Jones for picks?

Easier said than done.

Julio 3 years left before he has an out...$20M/year
Ryan has a $40M cap hit next year...$41M in 2022 and $36M in 2023

It would have to be a team that is likely to contend but also needs a QB and has the cap. Hard find.

Julio is the easy trade imo. Atlanta has a WR1 in Ridley. Ryan would be tougher to part with but you'd probably get more for him Nd he's being wasted with the D.
They're 0-5, Ryan is 35, Jones is 31 & injury prone. They should tank to get TLaw and trade Ryan & Jones while they still have good values for a boatload of picks to rebuilt.

They aren't getting a boatload of picks for guys over the hill with inflated contracts. The Browns gave up a 1st and 3rd for OBJ and he was 26 in his prime.
I'm sure at this point, ATL would just be happy getting Ryan off the books...whether they get valuable picks or not. Julio you might get a desperate team to take that contract and you could still possibly get a high pick for him but we aren't talking a whole lot for both.

Are they even tradeable given their contracts? The salary cap is almost certainly going down, not many teams will be able to take on those deals, not to mention the dead cap that Atlanta has to endure.

Ryan and Jones are Falcons for the next 1-2 years. Their combined dead cap this year is nearly $150M and the combined dead cap next year is still near $100M.

They can't trade, release, or do whatever without completely tanking the team.... and NO team can afford that much of a cap hit.

Ryan/Jones are Falcons through 2022. What a couple of stupid contracts the Falcons gave out... yeesh.

No.... and the Browns are not 'Browning' so there's not even that.

Holy Crap. Ryan is 35? He's untradeable then

Jets? LOL Same for the Colts, Rivers seems like he needs to retire...but Brissett is making $20M next year so he will be the guy.

Gonna have to live with that contract. JJ is a different story...they could get something valuable for him but it isn't going to be anything special

The funniest part of "we should trade them" talk....Atlanta literally this offseason (in the last 6 months) restructured both of their contacts making it impossible.

Whenever you hear a team doing a restructure to create cap space, I would say 90% of the time they are making it harder on themselves not easier. The only type of player you should ever restructure is a player you know is going to be good 3 to 4 years down the road.

I'd like to think there's a sucker coach somewhere out there. Remember the Cowboys Jimmy Johnson blockbuster Herschel Walker trade in the late 80s that enable them to rebuilt and won back to back SB? Ryan & Jone is a good package for a mega trade.

No team can afford it. If you tried to do it this year you're sunk with $150M (nearly) of dead cap. Next year, $100M. Only way Ryan/Jones are going anywhere (as a pair) is 2022. And Ryan is a good QB but not great, and Jones is one of the best but IF he's healthy. I doubt either would command much money/draft capital at this point.

It's a home/condo you paid too much for and are like "Well fuck me..." I'm living that 'dream' right now.

That was Mike Lynn as GM and he's been dead for 8 years and out of the game since the early 90s (right after he made that trade).

It's not every day you can con a team into making the worst trade in the history of the NFL, and maybe in the history of American sports.

Personally I think Ryan has more value . He's still a top 10ish QB and thats a ton more valuable than a WR1 especially given their respective injury histories . The dead cap # is prohibitive but if youre going full rebuild its still doable you'd just have to suck for a few years knowing you can't extend anyone or sign any FAs of consequence . Its probably still a year or 2 early though. I just feel bad fir the guys given how good they've been and to end it in Atl looking at being so bad

Atlantas big rebuilding piece is their first draft pick in next year's draft. If its a top 3 pick, they are trading down or getting J'marr Chase or something like that. New coach will be addition by subtraction. NFC South's window is going to be wide open in a year or two when Brady and Brees decline. No need (or window) to blow things up.

Julio is a great receiver but always seems to get nagging injuries.
