The Haters have been duped. You fell for the banana in the tail pipe.
I understand because a good 95% of guys can't stand Men that are arrogant, cocky,
prima donnas and we'll throw flamboyant in there for good measure.

We live in this era where it's all about being politically correct, that we only respect guys
like Barry Sanders that scored and handed the ball to the ref. What's the new buzz
phrase? Act like you've been there before. :noidea: This is a No Fun League. A lack of
violence and a lack of touchdown celebrations. (The exuberance over catching a
pass for a 1st down is a joke.)

Do you know who Richard Sherman is a poor man's version of? Prime Time, Prime Time, Prime Time.
He lacks the talent and his mouth is a bit behind Primes. I'll never forget the first time I saw Prime play ball. It was in Death Valley and Prime is egging the crowd on. Raising both hands. The punt is kicked
to Prime and it was a man among boys. He blasts 70 yds or so through Clemson's coverage like they were running in quick stand. Showboating as he hit the endzone.

I loved Prime. His arrogance, his fighting with WR's like Cortland Finnegan when in press coverage,
his flamboyant high stepping after picking off a pass or taking a punt to the house. Prime could
likely run a 4.5 40 by running the first 20 yds and high steppin with his hand behind his head for the
final 20. I'm surprised 9er fans complain because when Prime went to the 9er's, Steve Young was concerned but realized Prime was a self-promoter but a great teammate and guy. He fit in.

The Internet, message boards, NFL Network, News and Twitter have amplified Sherman's arrogance.

However, he grew up in the hood. He steered clear of the drugs at his H.S. Sherm had the same
mouth in H.S. but he focused on his studies. When Carroll went to recruit Sherm to go to USC, he
made Pete wait almost 2 hours in the Principal's office because Sherm was involved in a test.

A guy comes back from Iraq hurt and Sherm w/ Browner go down to Vancouver, Wa, to spend time
and brought Jerseys and other Hawk memoriabilia. Who sponsored the Back Pack program for
under privileged youth and spoke on the importance of education? None other than Richard Sherman.

I loved Prime. I love Richard Sherman and the attitude his brings to the Hawks and I'd think he was
bad ass no matter what team he played for just like I felt about Prime Time.

The only thing bigger than Sherm's mouth is his heart. Go hate all you want. But you may want to
check your insecurities at the door and realize it's all for show. :yahoo:

You're taking it way too serious. You totally missed my point. Let's just agree to disagree.

All right, I shouldn't have posted that to you. This board doesn't need people like me turning into jerks and insulting other posters. The last board I was on had too much of that.

A couple of points to this....

1. Most people didn't like prime as a player unless he was on their team. You are an exception to this not in the majority. I hated Sanders as a player. That doesn't mean he was a bad guy. I actually like him as an analyst. BTW- comparing Sherman to prime is a HUGE stretch. Prime was 3 times the athlete Sherman is. The only comparison that should be made is his big mouth.

2. You are trying to convince everyone that Sherman is a great guy away from football. The discussion isn't about if he is a great guy away from football. I have heard soooo many examples about all the great things he does in the community. Step in line buddy, because there are hundreds of NFL players who do the same thing.

3. Is there something wrong with political correctness? You do realize guys like Barry Sanders are few and far between in this league, right? Is smack talk something something that deserves respect? I think most players and non-seahawk fans respect Sherman for his play on the field. Why do you think he demands more respect than that?

Finally - You call the NFL the no fun league. I don't look forward to every Sunday to be board off my ass. As a Seahawk fan I would think you are having a blast this year. Maybe I am wrong.

Sherman is not being discussed for anything other than his mouth. Their are villains in the NFL, Sherman is considered a villain within the NFL confines.

BTW- your point about people being insecure because they don't like his big mouth is just laughable. Calm down dude. It's a sports forum. I doubt anyone is insecure about Shermans antics.

Sherman is an elite athlete. I agree with anyone that says that Sanders is one a the best, if not the best DB to ever play. But people talk about him like he's a freaking god that intercepted every pass his way and never-ever got beat. He was not 3X the athlete that Sherman is. Sherman's physicality, downfield speed and ability to change directions make him pound for pound one of the best athletes in the league.

As far as his philanthropy being fake. It's certainly not. Every team has a lot of guys that do that stuff just because they feel pressured to, then there's those few guys that truly enjoy being a position to help and bring joy to people. Kurt Warner was one of those guys, Larry Fitzegerald is one of those guys, and Richard Sherman is one of those guys. I've seen plenty of guys fake it (Seahawks included), it's not difficult to recognize when its genuine.

Sherman is one of the, if not the, best corner in the league. When he starts to return punts, play offense and play MLB, I will consider him comparable to Deon. Until then, Deon is 3 times the athlete IMO. Obviously something we will not agree on.

I am not saying he is fake. I don't know the guy at all. I don't live in Seattle so I don't hear all the biased media. If he does nice things away from football, great. All I am saying is I don't like his antics on the field or his attitude in post game interviews. It is just not my style. You don't have to try and convince me otherwise. Again it's my opinion and something we will not agree on.

I am also a realist and feel if Sherman was a Cardinal, it would be much easier for me to tolerate his antics.

Plenty of Hawk fans dont like his antics. And I'm not trying to convince you of a damn thing.

I'm just saying that if you really followed him you would know that those antics are not all that defines him. Though ESPN may disagree.

He is the #1 reason why I will never want to see Seattle win a superbowl

See your bung is still sore from the Seahawks curbstomp of da Aints two weeks ago. Go put some ice on it and have a good cry.

Is Sherman popping off at the mouth ? Of course he is..but who really cares what a player says before ,during or after a game? They are but one tiny piece of the puzzle that makes up a team. I got a good laugh before the game started with his 'Glorified Practice' pep talk. Hilarious!

“Any time you run a gimmick offense, you’re a little bit afraid — you’re not sound in what you’re doing in your base stuff,”Sherman told Yahoo! Sports on Sunday after the game. “You’re running this hurry-up stuff, and there’s a reason it’s not effective, because there are great defenses out there who will stuff it. We figured out early in the game what the calls were, what they were doing, and what the adjustments were. We started executing better, and that’s why they got only six points in the second half.” Sherman wasn’t done there, either. “Me and Earl [Thomas] walked up to him and said, ‘We’re greater than you. We’re better than you. You’re just a man — we’re a team.’ That’s the Brady Bunch; this is a defense,” he said according to Yahoo! Sports.” We’ve got 11 players out there to play great ball, and we’re never going to let one man beat us. It’s not just about one man. If they’ve got 11 players out there on offense, then they’re one hell of a team.” Sherman and Thomas both intecepted Brady on Sunday.

Sherman is never going to sign a MLB contract or play offense for the Hawks. He is pretty outstanding in coverage though. Not sure if he's as good as Prime in coverage but the gap isn't that big. One thing Sherman can do 10x better than Prime is tackle. Prime would never tackle anybody.

I actually like his antics. It's entertaining. Since when do athletes have to all the sudden be so damn politically correct all the time. He backs his talk up and it's funny. As for him making excuses about the refs and not giving the 49ers credit, that's just being competitive, most players think that way, he just has the balls to say it.

:agree: Your post reflects how I feel about Sherman. He's entertaining and people talk about what he has to say, just look on how many posters have chimed in on this thread. I love Russell Wilson, but I would listen to a Sherman interview over Russell every time.

Nobody is going to change their mind about Sherman, you either enjoy his antics or you hate them, but you will tune in to hear them and that is more then you say for some others.

Ok Seahawk Fans.

I believe RW will be a Seahawk way beyond his current contact. I believe RW knows how to speak to the media, some haters call it fake or robotic, I call it conservative truth. RW don't lie. He is wise, very wise.
I love listening to RW talk.
Sherman, I love him as a Hawk, but truthfully, even though I believe he is genuine, his voice and what and how he says what he says, bothers me a bit. I really like Sherman, but I wish he would tone it down a bit.

RW should never leave Seattle, and I believe he will NOT.
Sherman, we shall see.

Go Hawks:suds:

Nobody should be trying to compare Sherman to Prime. He is one of the best corners in the game right now. Just be happy with that. He's still a douche but I would take him on my team. I still wouldn't like him, but at least I could feel pretty confident that one side of the field would be shut down.
