I don't know if you can look at how the broncos played in the super bowl as an accurate representation of the team.

Don't get me wrong, Seattle is the best team. They crushed Denver. But 9 times out of 10 that game is a nail-biter. Seattle got Denver on a day where NO ONE on the team could do anything right.

Again, not taking credit away from seattle. They deserved every bit of the win. But I think Denver didn't play anywhere near their own ability.

Not sure I agree. Yeah, the Broncos had a bad day. Play that game 10 times and Seattle doesn't blow them out every time. But Denver was successful at stopping Lynch, and it didn't matter. Manning ripped teams apart because he never got pressured. He never had to face a team like Seattle than can cover like they do and force him to hold the ball longer. Denver's defense is a liability, especially with the injuries they had. Give them 100% health and maybe they make it interesting, but that's part of the game. Seattle and SF are just far better teams.

There were two teams on the field Sunday. The Broncos were the one that looked like they were playing in SLOW MOTION. They simply weren't prepared for the Seahawks size & SPEED. The Broncos hadn't played a team with a good defense all year. They ran into the best D in the game & got their butts kicked. I really wasn't surprised.

Well ya, I agree that Seattle wins that game probably 7 or 8 of 10 times. But my point is I don't think Denver is as bad as they looked Sunday night.

It's more like 50-50.

Not taking anything away from Settle ...but the Broncos biggest enemy that day was momentum. They lost in the first 2 seconds of the game. It's a snowball effect ...that makes the team without it get tight and panic.

...and just when they had a chance to reset at the half ..boom Punt return.

Take that safety away ...and there is a good chance the game would have been a real dog fight.

No chance. Manning didn't throw the ball down the field more than 5 or 6 times. His receivers couldn't get open. Manning completion record is a joke. 99% of them were for 5 yards or less.

The hawks won on the day that counts ...but to say they would win 7 out of 8 games is insane.

Arizona beat the hawks at home ..... could they beat the hawks 7 out of 8? ..of course not.

Any given Sunday.

In the first play of the NFCCG Russell Wilson was stripped and turned the ball over. That's more of a gut shot than a flukey safety and Seattle still won. I really don't think that safety did as much damage to their momentum as people seem to think. Denver clearly wasn't ready for what Seattle was bringing but it wasn't because of that one play.

Absolutely. In fact it can be said the Broncos D kept them in the game after the 1st quarter. After three possessions the Seahawks were only up 8-0. The Broncos offense was simply OVERMATCHED.

No problem, I'll have more to contribute when you start making rational posts.

So none of the players I mentioned are getting old by NFL standards? Where SF will end up in the division is just my opinion, but those players ages are facts.

I would agree that Denver didn't play like the second-best team in the NFL. They were seriously out-coached and out-played.

As for the NFCW... If the impact of FA is minimized, it will be the dominant division for the next few seasons.

Yet you skipped over my post showing plenty of young talent, and a wealth of picks to get even younger.

Since I posted a thread after the division round stating the NFCCG was the real Super Bowl, I'm inclined to agree. If SF was in that game Sunday they easily could've won by 35 as well.

I don't know if it would have been as bad but you are right and so is Sherman on this topic. I have said all along that Denver was, at best, the 3rd best team in the league after Seattle and San Fran and got laughed at by some. I'm not even sure now that Denver is even 3rd best. I thought their o-line was better than that. Aldon Smith would have had a field day as would the Carolina front. I think if the AFC west would have had to play their out of conference games against the NFC west instead of the east, the Broncos would have been a 10-6 or 11-5 team and had to go to Foxboro for the CG.

I think the 49ers were the second best team in the NFL. Panthers may fall short of being third best ,because of their secondary, but it would be close and I would lean to saying they would win it, if they had played the Broncos.

I do give credit to the Broncos D for holding up their end and stopping Lynch and the running game, which was their top priority. And they did keep the Seahawks out of the end zone on those first two possessions but their were a couple of plays early on by Seattle's offense that showed some weaknesses. The Broncos offense didn't have a chance and it was only a matter of time before their defense couldn't hold up any more.

I agree that San Fran overall is a better team than Denver is, but I don't think their defense would have man handled Denver's offense and dominated the Superbowl the same way we did.

It takes a special secondary combined with an excellent tandem of linebackers and pass rushers on the D-line to make Peyton look the way he looked.

San Fran's defense is great and probably the 2nd or 3rd best (toss up between Carolina, you guys can debate that on your own)...but their secondary has shown this year and good pocket passers could rack up some yards and do well.

Aaron Rodgers 332 yds 3 tds 1 int
Matt Ryan 348 yds 2 tds 2 ints
Drew Brees 301 yds 1 td 1 int
Carson Palmer 407 yds 2 tds 1 int

The Seahawks faced 3 of those quarterbacks this year and their numbers were significantly lower against Seattle's defense

Carson Palmer 178 ysd 1 td 4 ints
Matt Ryan 172 yds 1 td 0 int
Drew Brees 147 yds 1 td 0 int (second time around shut out through 3 quarters)

Agree 100%. That safety reflected everything about this game perfectly.

The 9ers secondary lacks the punch that the 'Hawks have ...this I know. That being said the whole Broncos team sucked....the 9ers would have won easily in the SB. It wasn't just on Peyton.
