That's your #1 priority for sure, although Ried is working out just fine at safety, I think in the long run, he's suited for SS duties and not a longterm answer at FS. Upgrade to your corners, absolutely required. Keep an eye out for a FS if the right one comes available. Interested to see if Lattimore is going to finally be unleashed. Gore had a productive season, but when he hits the wall, it could come fast.

You got a boatload of picks again this year, even if you trade a couple away.

I'm really excited about Lattimore. From all that I have read he has made great progress. I think Gore has a year left in him but not much more. As you said, when it comes to running backs, when they hit that wall it is immediate. I remember when Tomlinson hit the wall. I couldn't believe how he went from very good to inept in a matter of 2 seasons.

If Seattle hadn't have picked up Avril and Bennett over the off season last year they probably don't even reach the SB, more or less win it. It was clear in that game that Denver had no answer for a speedy edge rusher and Seattle worked that line until they gave up. When you combine that with Seattle clearly out coaching this game Denver had no chance.

Sherman may have said what we all think, but I don't think it is a story. This is the media still trying HARD to find ways to push Sherman into creating more drama to give them stories.

He also gave a ton of praise to Manning in several other outlets.

True,it was a big factor in the Atlanta game and i knew Pete would address it,we didn't need the best etc just a guy or two (two in case of injury's) to get in there because our guys doing cover etc would give many rushers plenty of time, and hey it worked great.

Since I posted a thread after the division round stating the NFCCG was the real Super Bowl, I'm inclined to agree. If SF was in that game Sunday they easily could've won by 35 as well.

Seattle might have a more formidable rival next year with the window closing of the aging 49ers. I wonder who i'm talking about...

I might agree if you had a young gun like Kaepernick or Wilson. While the rest of your team looks real solid Palmer is in his golden years. He might have a year or two left but he'd make me nervous in a big playoff game against a great defenses.

They have a nasty front DLine.

The Niners are still pretty young. They have a good mixture of vets and some younger players. Plus a lot of draft picks to get even better/younger. I wouldn't get my hopes up if I were you. Arizona is a very good team and will make noise but not because of any drop-off by the Niners.

I agree, I just don't think there is a better option right now.

I was speaking somewhat "tongue in cheek". We haven't beat the niners in a couple of years. I'm just trying to remain optimistic for the next 7 months.

Overall, the 49ers have a young roster, however the core players that actually see playing time are aging quite a bit. Gore is 30, Boldin is 33, Davis is 30, J Smith is 34, Brooks 29, Willis 29, Rogers 32 and Whitner 28. SF has not had much immediate success with the draft either and if those players don't pan out, that will come back to haunt them sooner rather than later. I agree that the window is closing for the 49ers and actually think they will finish 3rd in the division next year and there is a possiblity that they could finish last depending on what STL is able to come up with in the draft.

most of the time in the superbowl, the 2nd best team doesn't necessarily make it to the super bowl or even lose it anyways.

Sherman's blunt honesty is bound to get him in trouble one of these days but I have to admit, I sort of like it.

I don't know if you can look at how the broncos played in the super bowl as an accurate representation of the team.

Don't get me wrong, Seattle is the best team. They crushed Denver. But 9 times out of 10 that game is a nail-biter. Seattle got Denver on a day where NO ONE on the team could do anything right.

Again, not taking credit away from seattle. They deserved every bit of the win. But I think Denver didn't play anywhere near their own ability.

The niners have key young players. Kap, Alex Boone, Anthony Davis, Mike Iupati, Crabs, Patton, Reid, Lattimore, Tank, Dorsey, Ian Williams, plus either 13 or 14 picks in the next draft.

I don't put much stock into what Richard Sherman has to say, but for those who do, this was based on an interview with him after the game:

Y! SPORTS

All worthless speculation at this point. All just meaningless noise. The facts are that the Broncos won the AFC and got their asses handed to them by the World Champion Seattle Seahawks. End of story.
