Sorry if it was covered already -- I wasn't in here during the game -- but what's the consensus on that facemask called on Sherm? He was touching the facemask all right, but the grasp was on the jersey around the shoulder. As I understand the rule, the elements required for a facemask penalty are a grab *and* a twist, turn, or pull. Seems like we got jobbed on that one from what I saw on the replay.

No call. From what I saw. He grazed the facemask not touched it

He never touched the facemask. It was all shoulder. It was a terrible call but so was the interference on Gronk. Kind of evens it out.

Interference on Gronk? You cant be talking about the last play.

Yeah. The facemask call was BS. All the official had to do was look at the receiver's shoulder pad, notice he could actually see it because it wasn't covered by a jersey, and decide to wave off the penalty. If Sherman got any of the facemask, I don't believe he got enough of it to meet the threshold for calling a facemask penalty. Should have been a no-call.

As far as the no-call on the last play goes, I think most people would agree that it was a good no-call and some have even said that it should have been Gronkowski that was flagged for interference. I can't find too many people who thought Kam should have been flagged on the play.

The facemask was a bs call but in real time I understand why is was called... Definitely looked like it was facemasking...

It definitely was not face masking but I can't blame the refs for calling it... I probably would've called it too...

Yeah, the ref who threw the flag could not have possibly seen what has happening (he was behind the play with both players between him and the call). I know that they throw the flag based on how the player reaction was to the hand on the shoulder - but at best he could make was an educated guess for the action. The only thing that even slightly galls me, is that it appears that the ref from the other side didn't agree with the call - but was talked into it by the guy who threw the flag during their conference....

Now, the refs are trained to throw that flag. It looked like a facemask according to how they are trained to make that call. As such, I actually have no qualms with the call, at some point there will be a facemask that isn't a face mask that'll go for Seattle.
