I was wondering how many were going to get ejected from the brawl that was about to happen. It did not but it seemed like it was about to.

I hope that Lockette's injury is not near as bad as it seems. It is just one of the risks these guys take in this sport.

I agree that it should not be a 15-yard penalty. Lockette ran into the blocker with a reaction he knew it was coming. It was not blindside.

I also don't think they should try to change any rules because of this. It is something that happens in violent sports and if you take the violence away, it will be horrible to watch.

Eh, I disagree about a 15 yarder. It's just a rough game and Lockette got blown up. I thought it was BS when Tate got flagged after blowing up Lee, ending his season a couple years ago.. this is the same thing. Seems like a legit hit, just unfortunate happened to one of our guys.

He was trying to brace himself. All of the momentum was coming in from the other player. It is still considered a blind side even if he saw it a split second before he won't remember anything else.

Hopefully they use this as an emotional boost in the 2nd half.

Hoping it's no more than a night in the hospital. Hope he's back soon.

Seriously, Seattle used to be the team doing the hitting and putting fear in the receivers in particular. Knock Dez down a few times. Punish guys for going over the middle. Not to the point of injuring them of course.

To me those types of plays are unnecessary since the ball was no where near. If the nfl continue to emphasize players safety then they also need to get rid of plays like this on kick-offs and punts. Overall, Heath was gunning for Lockette.

That really stretches the meaning of blind side, though. He was squared up and hit him head on. Is his entire body his blind side just because he didn't see it coming because his eyes were focused elsewhere ?

Hopefully it's the last 1 we see. There's no intent but there's no need for a blow to the head when you're moving towards your own goal-line. I hope he makes a full recovery.

It's a matter of opinion and one even their expert agreed with us on.

If he didn't have enough time to fully react to where he could defend himself it's a tough position to be in. MP wanted to call it still sort of a defenseless player. Call it what you like, but allowing those kinds of hits does what for the game?

I don't know. He saw a guy to put a body on and he put his body on him. Lockette saw it coming as well. If they want to end this sort of thing then get rid of the body armor and give them minimal pads to work with. Players will have to stop lighting each other up because they won't last half a season trying to lay people out. It's like boxing with the gloves. Gloves aren't used to protect the face, they're used to protect the hands. If they want to protect boxers they should just go back to bare-fisted because the jaw bone is much stronger than the bones in the hand. It would probably be a hell of a lot more bloody with the bone on bone crap but there'd be less brain damage.

The NFL knows the kicks are where the danger is. They moved the kick off's so there would be less returns.
