If I am Mariners, I would look into Contreras. Platoon him with Cal with the off day guy DHing. It improves both the backup catching spot and the starting DH spot. It also is a little insurance for if Cal regresses.

Did you know we finished dead last in DH avg last year at...get this... .176. Yes your Designated HITTER batted .176. How gawd awful is that?
