Not sure if you listened to the podcast but as I remember he said the big 4 in the minors have really little chance of coming up unless injuries happen to the 6 men in the rotation race. He said he doesn't want a 6 man rotation without coming straight out and saying it so one of Marco or Flexen goes to long relief and would be first option if one of the starting 4 go down. He really likes Woo. Said he is healthy now after having surgery after being drafted and has caught up with everyone. I get he likes Miller then Woo then Hancock then Dollard.Like the headliner? If Miller is as good as everyone says he is, unless they eat a bunch of money for Flexen and Marco how do either get any innings this year? I guess they can pull off some magic and trade Ray. But they are bottom barrel shopping for bats so they have to trade if they want to get better. IMO one of he, Gilbert or Kirby has to go for a legitimate bat and I would much prefer to keep Kirby and Gilbert has shown signs of being a capable ace.
Really likes Michael Arroyo:
Scouting grades: Hit: 55 | Power: 45 | Run: 50 | Arm: 50 | Field: 50 | Overall: 45
The Mariners made a big splash when the 2022 international signing period opened, and Arroyo was a big part of why. The club committed $1.375 million to the Dominican Republic native. The 17-year-old is known more for his hitting ability than power potential, but there’s no denying his elite skills and feel for hitting. Overall, Arroyo has five-tool potential and a chance to have above-average tools across the board if he continues to develop at a normal pace.
Arroyo, who was ranked No. 41 in the ‘22 international class, is at shortstop for now but could wind up at second or third base depending on how he fills out and hits. With a quick and compact swing, developing power and good knowledge of the zone, the right-handed hitter was considered one of the more advanced pure hitters in the class.
Dipoto said he can make contact against anyone right now at any level.
