SF isn't facing that Pop Warner secondary of GB this week. Boldin and Davis got to deal with Legion of Boom and 12th man.

SF should also remember how many points GB dropped on them in their house as well.

First, a good number of NFL players played in 100,000 capacity stadiums in college so this idea that the CLink is so crazy different from any other sporting event on earth, 12th man or not, is truly not as big a deal as you make it. Is it the loudest stadium in the NFL? Absolutely. Is it so mind-numbing that it completely overtakes anyone who comes near it? No. It causes a couple false starts and a bit of communication issue on occasion. It doesn't turn opponents discombobulated.

Second, nobody questioned your secondary. You continue to beat your chest based on something that was not even brought up. A poster wrongly posted how Kap locks onto his WR on every pass play and my response was based on last game, hence the reason I stated AB's stats vs GB. Where was SEA's secondary mentioned? And while we are at it, your secondary has to deal with Boldin and VD as well. It goes both ways. We will see how it turns out on Sunday.

Wait until Sunday, it will feel like a whole week has past by the time the Sunday night game finally starts.

If i'm a Seattle fan i'm not feeling too good about this game considering the hawks only scored 12 points against a weak Carolina defense. 49ers roll 35-10 sorry guys

Carolina's weak defense!!!!! HUH ? Your joking right ?

Seattle won't be facing the anemic Carolina offense either. GB has one of the best offenses in football and their defense has actually imrpoved. They aren't the Seahawk defense but then again, Seattle isn't the GB offense. It will be a completely different game, strategically, for both teams.

Only thing that made Carolina's offense anemic was Seattle's defense... Carolina was hot ending the season last year and actually stuck Atlanta for 475 yards offense and pasted the Saints with 530 yards in offense... If you look at the stat line last year 190 total yards was there lowest in the season... Vs Seattle again.. So let's talk WHY Carolina looked anemic... It's called defense...

Look, let's put all the homerism aside and take a sober look at this game for a minute.

Right now I would say SF is the better team on a neutral field. Their offense looked near mid-season form while Seattle needs a bit of work to get there. The Seahawks defense has too many injured and/or guys dinged up/coming back from injury who aren't 100%. These are realities. But...

Seattle last season was a perfect 8-0 at home. The only two games that were close were the 2nd and 3rd home games vs GB and NE respectively. You will all recall that was when Wilson still had the limited playbook and the offense was sputtering along. The defense largely carried the team. Why is this important? Seattle beat two world class teams at home with a rookie QB running a small playbook. They have a proven track record of winning at home despite not having a complete team on both sides of the ball in the most recent season.

In the 2011 season the Seahawks finished 7-9 overall and 4-4 at home. Of those 4 losses only 1 was a double digit loss and that was a 10 point loss to the bengals. Clearly this is a very different team, but even with that bad team they played everyone much tougher at home than on the road.

In the first season under Pete Carroll they finished 7-9 in the regular season. They finished 5-3 at home, but all 3 losses were very bad getting spanked by the Giants, Chiefs, and Falcons. Still, they were far better at home than on the road. Also worth noting that this was the season they made the playoffs as the first losing team to ever do so and won an improbable home game vs a much better Saints team.

Home field advantage is real and many national pundits site Century Link field as the best home field advantage in the league.

If this game was being played on a neutral field I'd give SF the edge by 3-10 points. If it was at their stadium I might give them a 14pt advantage right now as they sit, but at home? Good luck in that environment. That's all I'm saying.

I'd say this will be a close game and end up something like 24-21 Seahawks.

I agree with virtually everything you just said. Although I don't believe that the Niners will lose, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Seahawks win this game either.

The more I think about this game, the more I think we split games with the Niners this season. So, I'm curious... if you could beat the Niners one time this year... would you rather it be at home this weekend, or on the road near the end of the season?

There are only a couple things I would contest, but overall I think it is a pretty accurate, although vague, depiction of group ratings.

1.) I think that Vernon Davis is one of the best, most complete TE in the NFL. He is a GREAT run blocker, easily top 3 in the league. He is also a huge receiving threat based on his size and speed being a huge mismatch for teams. Zach Miller is a nice TE but not in the same caliber class of TE as Vernon. Both teams are also somewhat dependent on young TEs as backups so that part is a push but Davis is better then Miller, by a bit.

2.) I think that grouping the front 7 is an interesting one because I feel as if your front 7, even at full strength, is still well behind the Niners, much like our respective secondaries are in your favor. We have one of the best run blocking groups and we have elite pass rushers at key positions with pass rushing depth. Also, Willis and Bowman are two of the best coverage LBs in the league.

Thanks for posting, I hadn't seen this yet.

As a Niner fan, if a split were mandatory, I would rather win our game late at home then the away game. If the Niners win this week, it may add to the team's confidence a bit, but playing well at the end of the season is more paramount to post-season success then the second game of the season.

Tough call for sure. I think I would rather win this week, mainly to show the team that Seattle can be beaten in their house. Obviously this question didn't state who would win the division, but if the Niners don't get home field in the playoffs I want them confident that they can go into Seattle and win. A loss this Sunday, coupled with last season's loss and in this hypothetical situation losing the division to them, could diminish their confidence going into the playoffs. I think both Harbaugh brothers showed last year that you don't need to be rolling going into the playoffs, just have the confidence that you can roll.

Not sure it matters much. On the one hand you want to always protect your home, but late season extra confidence never hurts. It depends on how we get into the playoffs. If we have home field then win this one and lose the road game. Otherwise go the other way if we have road playoff games and take that extra road confidence. Outside of that you end up with the same record either way and that's all that matters in the regular season IMO.

I'd rather win Sunday because I'm going to the game!

In addition though, I'd rather win right now, while we're not at 100% health wise, then be able to get guys back and go to SF and win again ; )

Listed as having full participation in practice today were DEs Cliff Avril, Chris Clemons, and OL Michael Bowie, WR Sidney Rice, and TE Luke Willson.

No word on Browner has he didn't practice today, but could still be available for Sundays game.

Wonder what the chances are that Clem plays Sunday?
