The Seattle Seahawks are making an 11th-hour push to trade for Minnesota Vikings Pro Bowl defensive end Jared Allen before Tuesday's 4 p.m. ET trade deadline, multiple sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

The Vikings are also talking to second team about Allen, the sources said.
The Vikings are asking for a second round draft pick but would consider a conditional third-round choice in 2014, a source told ESPN Senior NFL Insider Chris Mortensen.
Allen will be a free agent after the season. He has a $14.28 base salary this season. If the Vikings don't trade Allen, and he left as a free agent next spring, they could get a mid-round compensatory pick in return for the 2015 draft.
If the Seahawks were able to swing a deal for Allen it would be the second major trade the team would have completed with the Vikings this year, following the offseason acquisition of wide receiver Percy Harvin.
The Vikings received 2013 first- and seventh-round picks, plus a mid-round pick in 2014 from the Seahawks for Harvin, who hasn't played yet this season after undergoing hip surgery before the season.
Allen, a four-time Pro Bowler who turns 32 in April, said earlier this month that the Vikings aren't currently talking with his agent about a new contract.
Allen has 4.5 sacks this season and 121.5 in his career. The Seahawks stocked up on pass-rushers in the offseason, adding free agents Michael Bennett and Cliff Avril to a defense that also features 2012 first-round pick Bruce Irvin and Chris Clemons.
Bennett leads the team with 4.5 sacks, while Avril has 4, Clemons has 3.5 and Irvin has 2. Defensive tackle Clinton McDonald also is among the team's sacks leaders with 3.5.
ESPN.com Vikings reporter Ben Goessling contributed to this report.

Would be a hell of an addition to the Seahawks if they could pull it off.

Don't suppose they have any offensive tackles they can throw into the deal do they?

How odd that I just typed that. Who woulda thunk it after the ATL playoff game last year.

Im hoping this is just another case of our front office wanting to be involved in any trade talks for any player, even if we arent really interested.

It's not like we have a shortage of DEs right now.....
Can't see it happening with the about 2 mil in cap space we have. Then again, we're talking about Schneider.

IMO, it is a smoke screen. If we have a pressing need, it is along the OL.

WTF is up with us always trading with the Vikings? I swear that is the only team in the NFL we trade with. Renting Allen for the final 8 games of the season and the playoffs wouldn't be a terrible idea I guess...we are loaded with pass rushers but I guess another one wouldn't hurt. His contract runs up after this season so he will come off the books anyways. I doubt we pull this deal off though. The Vikings are probably just using the Seahawks as leverage with the 2nd team in the trade talks for Allen.

Clearly he would make your pass rush better but obviously the Seahawks defense isn't the problem with the team.

Unless you can improve and get healthy on the offensive line trading for Allen doesn't dramatically increase your odds of winning it all especially at the cost of a day 2 pick.

Also, I think we need to save our draft picks to use on the O-Line.

But where does he fit? I like the idea of adding good players, but it isn't like our pass rushers are our weakest link right now.

Yeah, we dont need another defensive player. Allen would be a luxury and not a need. We all know that our serious issues is with the OL. A receiver that can get separation wouldnt be bad either.

Also, another Viking? Seriously? If we keep this up, pretty soon, we will be the Vikings.

It looks like we are not going to trade for Allen after all. That is good news. I would have hated to give up a 2nd or conditional 3rd round pick for an aging Allen that will leave after this season anyways. Trading away valuable draft picks to rent aging players for a few months is not the way this team needs to be built. We need to think long-term as well and there will be some very talented young players on this team whom we will not be able to retain in a season or two. We need all those draft picks to replenish the talent down the road. As stated before, Allen would not have made us that much better. Our weakest link is the O-Line. The D-Line is top 5 in the NFL. I'm glad we didn't waste draft capital for Jared Allen.
