Hell, he's 69 years old doing a job that the average age is two decades younger. Can definitely be a draining job and when you start to feel the drag more than excitement each day, it's time.

While the last several years have been disappointing, it is really a product of how he raised expectations to where average (or slightly better record wise) is such a let down. He at least knew the writing on the wall and decided to go out where he'll be celebrated to the point that everyone is excited about a future hire, but showing the love for the man that will forever be VT football.

It's crazy that he's only 5 years older than Saban. Seems like he's 20 years older.
